If I understand your proposal for a new feature, I think PA already has that feature. Just right click on the column header, and then add the “method” column to the PA window.

Greetings and Salutations: I was sitting utilizing Google Plus the other day and I was downloading some photographs from the G+ Photo area where my Android application automatically uploads the photos I take to my GMail account and stores them within the cloud. Anyway, as I was downloading them from my picture archives, Google has the photographs seamlessly ZIPped before it activates the download process to the hard drive… Okay, fine… So, you already have an EMail PowerArchiver Add-On so that you can zip files and send them from Outlook to whomever. Well, I know I am probably not the only one who does not utilize Outlook as my default email application/program. I utilize two webmail services, and one of them is GMail. Can there be an Add-On made for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome that allows us to Compress and send files via G-Mail rather than Outlook? On that same token… what about creating an Add-On for Microsoft Word 2003/2010 and above so that we can Zip-and-Send the current document(s) via GMail (as well as Outlook) to someone else? This Add-On could not only be for Word, but for PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Project, Visio as well. Cheers, Spirit Wolfe

Socrates, that’s a good suggestion although during the encryption process it might already test the structure before finalizing. However, the option to test would be a nice option.

Hi Guys, I use PowerArchiver alot especially when updating a file within an archive and saving the change’s. Therefore, one feature that I would like to see added would be the ability for PowerArchiver to have a list of Remembered Archive’s by their Name & Location that are deemed Regular for saving. Thus when opening an archive and making changes to it “if” it match’s that of the list you wont receive the prompt asking if you wish to save those changes within the archive. If the archive isnt within the list then the prompt will of course appear, unless the user has disabled it via settings.

Good question… Well, as I mentioned above, I’ve been using 24117248 kb for the 25Gb, as it allows a little overhead when burning the disc. I haven’t had to burn a 50Gb archive yet, but I guess 47877568 kb (based on the same conversion calc less a little bit) would work… (My calcs are based on available free space of 24438784 kb and 48877568 kb respectively, from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc )

What had happened was that it was extracting to my USB 3 flash drive over USB2 (probably part of the problem), and I realized I was extracting to the wrong place, so I tried to hit the cancel button, but it wouldn’t respond. It wasn’t until the extraction was complete like 2 minutes later that it actually cancelled.

someone cracking the password would not do it via PA, they would write a script for some command line utility they already have that makes it easy to do dictionary based attacks… so if we limited that in PA, it would only inconvenience regular users unfortunately. Unless the file is behind the server, there is no real way to protect such attacks… however with proper use of password policies, it would be impossible to crack the password in AES protected file.

Better. Much better. But one minor tweak would help. The folders on the computer are listed to the tenth of a MB; those on the server are rounder to the nearest whole MB (so, e.g., 43.5 on the left; 44 on the right).

I took a few to toss together what might be the start of such a chart. I am sure the questions need to be more fine-grained (e.g., more file types). Some cells might just include a ‘Y’ or a ‘N’; for others we might rank the files (1,2,3). I realize this should go on the back burner 'til 2013 is fully out and you’ve had an update or two. And maybe ZTE. But I do think it would be a valuable service and could help sell PA. attachment_p_31522_0_which-formats-are-best-for-what-purposes.7z

In some dialogue windows people have the option of choosing the RAR4 or RAR5 method as the default. In some, e.g., in the conversion dialogue window, that is not an option. It would be nice to have the option everywhere that one can select the RAR format. And I would still like to see RAR as a compression option in the PBS files.

p.s. Beta 4 added support to upload to cloud without any interaction…. so that should work fine.

Hi Guys, My Job as System and Application Developer basically means I review and create automation of office work and programing VBA is a major part of that. This got me trying out some Code that uses WinZip’s engine and has fuelled what I am about to ask for. It would be fantastic if you could create a means for Office users to interact with PowerArchiver using VBA , either via a help document giving examples or even better creating an XLA Plugin with instant modules to Core components such as Compression, Encryption, running backups etc. The key would be to make it so if the user Had PowerArchiver and the PAVBA Plugin installed, they could write their VBA to call on already made Module’s. An example would be if you had a VBA Script running through a process to make a report or database file, after it was complete you then wanted it to Compress Itself and Upload to an FTP based on user profiles. Or you want it Zip To Email as soon as it was complete. Another example is you have Excel open and it can run a check and then compress documents in the background before it starts running the automated process etc There are so many way’s this would come in useful. It then got me thinking about the code and how it could look; PAVBA.Compress, zipx, password = “test”, Encrypt = True so PAVBA.Compress, Zipx,“Test”,True PAVBA.FTPSendTo,192.168.1.2,Admin,Password,81,SSL=true

Thought. Since you cannot just remove a password . . . the file has to first be decrypted to get to the raw data, the simplest solution might be to add an option to the archive convert dialogue – an option to encrypt (or not encrypt) the new archive.

Sorry I was slow on the update on some of these points. I suppose, though, that I am partly gratified that having you walk through this led to a concrete and helpful suggestion. Glad you noticed it.

There are a variety of windows in PA that do not remember resized columns (or added columns), not even with the usual trick of holding the Ctrl or Shift key while closing the window. 3 immediately come to mind: The main explorer window The backup tab (although this is less important to me) The Cloud windows It would be nice if you could slowly begin to add this feature to all windows. Thanks for considering this.
