When i extract an archive test.zip ____\file.txt to subfolder of C: then powerarchiver creates C:\test\file.txt This is good :) When i extract an archive with only one subfolder test.zip ____\test ________\file.txt to subfolder of C: then powerarchiver creates C:\test\test\file.txt This i dont like :( I wish the extract to subfolder would not create the first test subfolder when there is only one subfolder in the archive.

I occasionally have to send documents for federal agencies . . . in which case I assume it would be handy. But perhaps I am so rare in this regard, there is no need to make an exception. Still, there might be some common configuration feature(s) users might like to be able to turn on and off fairly easily. If so, the ability to put said options on the QAT would be helpful.

@iampedro: We can do it just you first have to open it in PA is there an option to right click on an exe/msi and say extract to or extract just like zip’s or other compress files? yes, that already exists in PA 2013… try it on PA setup - extract exe, and then MSI in it as well. If it does not auto-detect some exe’s (all MSI’s should work), then send us the link (email?) and we will add support for those SFX’s.

If I understand your proposal for a new feature, I think PA already has that feature. Just right click on the column header, and then add the “method” column to the PA window.
  • Add-Ons for Firefox, Chrome and Microsoft Word…

Greetings and Salutations: I was sitting utilizing Google Plus the other day and I was downloading some photographs from the G+ Photo area where my Android application automatically uploads the photos I take to my GMail account and stores them within the cloud. Anyway, as I was downloading them from my picture archives, Google has the photographs seamlessly ZIPped before it activates the download process to the hard drive… Okay, fine… So, you already have an EMail PowerArchiver Add-On so that you can zip files and send them from Outlook to whomever. Well, I know I am probably not the only one who does not utilize Outlook as my default email application/program. I utilize two webmail services, and one of them is GMail. Can there be an Add-On made for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome that allows us to Compress and send files via G-Mail rather than Outlook? On that same token… what about creating an Add-On for Microsoft Word 2003/2010 and above so that we can Zip-and-Send the current document(s) via GMail (as well as Outlook) to someone else? This Add-On could not only be for Word, but for PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Project, Visio as well. Cheers, Spirit Wolfe

Socrates, that’s a good suggestion although during the encryption process it might already test the structure before finalizing. However, the option to test would be a nice option.

Hi Guys, I use PowerArchiver alot especially when updating a file within an archive and saving the change’s. Therefore, one feature that I would like to see added would be the ability for PowerArchiver to have a list of Remembered Archive’s by their Name & Location that are deemed Regular for saving. Thus when opening an archive and making changes to it “if” it match’s that of the list you wont receive the prompt asking if you wish to save those changes within the archive. If the archive isnt within the list then the prompt will of course appear, unless the user has disabled it via settings.

Good question… Well, as I mentioned above, I’ve been using 24117248 kb for the 25Gb, as it allows a little overhead when burning the disc. I haven’t had to burn a 50Gb archive yet, but I guess 47877568 kb (based on the same conversion calc less a little bit) would work… (My calcs are based on available free space of 24438784 kb and 48877568 kb respectively, from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc )

What had happened was that it was extracting to my USB 3 flash drive over USB2 (probably part of the problem), and I realized I was extracting to the wrong place, so I tried to hit the cancel button, but it wouldn’t respond. It wasn’t until the extraction was complete like 2 minutes later that it actually cancelled.

someone cracking the password would not do it via PA, they would write a script for some command line utility they already have that makes it easy to do dictionary based attacks… so if we limited that in PA, it would only inconvenience regular users unfortunately. Unless the file is behind the server, there is no real way to protect such attacks… however with proper use of password policies, it would be impossible to crack the password in AES protected file.

Better. Much better. But one minor tweak would help. The folders on the computer are listed to the tenth of a MB; those on the server are rounder to the nearest whole MB (so, e.g., 43.5 on the left; 44 on the right).

I took a few to toss together what might be the start of such a chart. I am sure the questions need to be more fine-grained (e.g., more file types). Some cells might just include a ‘Y’ or a ‘N’; for others we might rank the files (1,2,3). I realize this should go on the back burner 'til 2013 is fully out and you’ve had an update or two. And maybe ZTE. But I do think it would be a valuable service and could help sell PA. attachment_p_31522_0_which-formats-are-best-for-what-purposes.7z

In some dialogue windows people have the option of choosing the RAR4 or RAR5 method as the default. In some, e.g., in the conversion dialogue window, that is not an option. It would be nice to have the option everywhere that one can select the RAR format. And I would still like to see RAR as a compression option in the PBS files.

p.s. Beta 4 added support to upload to cloud without any interaction…. so that should work fine.
