• ZIPX: Add support for packing JPEG with specialized algorithm

I would be perfectly happy, if PowerArchiver offered me a portable solution with FULL (i.e. also compression and not only decompression) support of all methods offered by ZIPX. Once again: as unpacking is already implemented for all ZIPX-methods it should be possible to also add packing?! Or is it really a licensing (WinZIP patents) or marketing (further pushing PA-format) issue? While I think it’s good to develop and push an own technologically advanced format like PA, there is also a need for compatibility, interoperability and exchange with others (using other software) . And ZIPX is currently more common because of the great old name and the wiedspread use of its originating software, WinZIP.

@mili I launched it through PA’s interface, in “burn” section. Also, when trying to use PA’s “dismount” feature through Context Menu, nothing happened. I am forced to go to PA and dismount the disk myself. I am on strictest option of UAC (i.e. top of slidebar)

Hi. Thank you very much for your support! I do have a question: if a new version of Virtual Drive gets updated, is there a stable link where i can always find the latest update for this tool? For now i just use trial and error and base my download from the online update check, infer the new file name from the updater if a new version is available, then modify a bookmark link i found according to the latest version, in order to fetch the offline installer for PA virtual drive. Or ask here regularly, which doesn’t seem too pleasant to do repeatedly if a new version is released. Thank you!

@Mili It was very spooky to see what was happening with this issue when I saw my months’ old post at the top of the list. I would like the keys to work when browsing inside archives as well as anywhere one would want to navigate folders. I was not aware that the keys worked when navigating the hard drive as I do not use PA that way. With kind regards and stay safe DrT

i also entered a wish for PA 2020 for favorite folders to show everywhere so it will be easier to use… otherwise only D&D uses copy and that is because we wanted to use native Windows function for UAC, and every other part of extract uses direct extraction and will elevate UAC when needed. Thanks!

Hello! I think it would be a great option to make the portable version of PowerArchiver compatible with PortableApps (i.e. adding the necessary files and folders to integrate it smoothly into their structure). I own various other commercial programmes which -when installed in portable mode- offer to make the becessary changes without needing an extra installer or the official PortableApps repos. Thanks for opinions or perhaps even a realization of this. A.Borque

This doesn’t seem to be working in 18.01.04 anymore? I just opened a zip file and the folder tree was collapsed again. Just to be clear, archive opens up in “Archive Mode”, I’m using “Explorer View”. I’d expect to get the result on the right side, but actually I see the tree collapsed as on the left side: [image: 1543153743136-17174f41-ad19-4be9-8543-ed53cfae1845-image.png] I think it worked fine in 18.01.03

@spwolf You are correct. They’re clearly not like your average text file.
