I think that the storing of password , like in WinRAR is only good for using with compress profile/options save function that WinRAR got when making encrypted SFX. so an option for saving the preferences when making encrypted SFX files in one I think is the most usefull - especially if using a very long “constructed” password. And as far as I know this does not show the password in the interface. A similar option in PowerArchiver would be a good idea….

The idea come to mind when using a series of services and programs that enabled users via a simple web based interface to do simple file sharing, backup’s and emails via home computer IP so to avoid large costs. Obviosly an intermediate to advanced admin could setup a remote desktop system or a VPN and login do the job on their system then move the archive to a shared location. Hell, if you pay for logmein pro you can access anywhere in the world and share files. But we are going into expensive, complex systems that require a higher level of knowlege and complex programing to ensure everything is secure. Plus to expense of VPN Tokens, costs connecting to such servers and the continued expense of expansion. I was also looking at PowerArchiver and what could Conexware create / offer their users both at home and businesses regardless of size ie 10 to 1000 plus thaat it’s competitors didnt, i thought about Patchbeam and its progression. Then it dawned on me that if Conexware created a Backend PowerArchiver Toolbox as a backend engine while a frontend plugin such as this could allow single to multiple users to create archives from any internal/external location via a web based interface without any special knowlege or software installed via a simple step as open “any” browser and enter an address then login. Now for a home user this would come in handy i could see myself using it with my livedrive. ie login at work that doesnt allow VPN’s or Remote desktops to any other external address than it own!! to my pa remote address then edit and run a backup or create a new backups to my livedrive anywhere at any time. However, for a business… this could be implemented into corporate intranet sites, website enabling the businss to lock down on the complexities and cost of software, VPN and remote training, costs of tokens etc etc allow standard users to upload files they need converting to archive over their business network and then email it via outlook all though a browser… Now! if done correctly this would be a powerfull addition to ConeXware’s software. A business then buy’s a “PowerArchiver Toolbox Business Licencse” enabling a backend proxy managment using Patchbeam tech for example… “wording to market it!” then they pay for a license that is far less than PA Standard for each login via a proxy. obvisoly the PA Toolbox Business would be priced specifically for this. The advantages 1. A business can keep specific formats in line with company policy’s at a reduced cost 2. users can edit and create backups of there own systems via a web portal but using PowerArchiver’s admin prefered settings. 3. Software would not need to be installed onto every single standard users end computer again “saving costs, training” 4. The ability to send an email to an address where it’s managed by toolbox and saved thus removing the requirement to sent to another email… ie i email a zip about 20 megs to an address it then download’s and makes it available for all users via the portal or via the business drive. thus reducing network traffic from one email to another then that person forwards to another person etc etc. there are loads of way’s i can think of that this could work but its putting it togeather with a think tank so it does. ow and at the momment, its unique to Conexware.

Hi Team, I think it would be logical to delete the “Locations” Tab and merge the “Viewer” and “Virus Scanner” options into the Folder’s Tab. A minor tweak to the drop downs width on Virus scanner would easily accomidate it. [image: attachment_t_5406_0_pa_newlocations.jpg]

Hi Team, There are a few things that i find anoying about the shell extentions options within the configuration tab which i would like to see resolved. I also have a few suggestions for improvments. Adjusting Current Shells A minor anoyance is when you have shell titles in the included menu tab but you want to move them into the sub menu the user is forced to remove them and then add them to the sub menu… please make it so the user can drop them in using the button “add submenu”. Better Range Control using Shift Key Currently, the user can only use the “Ctrl” key to select/deselect multiple shells to include or exclude. It would be great if you could also implement the “Shift” key so one could select a large range at one single time. Drag “n” Drop Aswell as Shift key i would also like to see the ability to drag and drop menus instead of using the buttons included. Custom Shell Order Allow the user to arrange each shell title in the order that they i want. So for example, i like to have all shell extensions available to me. But ideally if i could have .7z under .Zip then .PAF etc. Basically giving the user full control over their menu just by moving the shells up or down. Advanced Splits! The “split by features” into sub menus was a great improvment, in fact its my prefered setup for all my computers, clients. But what would be a great addition is the ability to create one’s own sub menu titles for example very much like my developers tab idea. A Custom titled Shell menu with my typically used shells such as “PowerArchiver 2011 - Richards Tab” and like mentioned above in the order i want! numbers excluded in menu but maybe dispayed in options area. 1.Compress Options 2.Compress to Zip 3.Compress to 7zip 4.FTP IT… Live Drive 5.Uncompress 6.Compile Adaptive Shell Extensions Something i’m proud to think of… A Simple tick box under the options section that when Selected PowerArchiver Records every instance the user selects the shells and after so many records it arranges the shell’s in the order of features and options they use the most. This when ticked deactivates the users ability to manually sort the shell’s in there format for obvios reasons. Preview Shell A simple Preview screen to show the user how there custom menu will look like on applying those settings.

Hi Guys, Another idea, that i would like to see. Simple in concept. Back in the day’s of ZipMagic that was owned by Ontrack they had a similar Preview Pane with the ability to detach it from ZipMagics main screen. Please add this enhancement to PA, I have included a rough preview of what i mean. The advantage is the user can see more of their archive’s contents while viewing in a larger preview screen. The user could even have the preview pane on a different monitor in full! while PA on another screen. [image: attachment_t_5398_0_pa_picturedock.jpg]

here is an example of another software program that does a similar thing. Allowing the user to hide/view the news. The only difference i suggest is if a user hide’s the tab it is saved as hidden but there is a default option that can also be stoped which provides the user with a msgbox prompt when new anouncemens are available. Some of us visit the PowerArchiver Site, forums, feeds etc nearly every day, week, month. And have Patchbeam running in the background so the news feeds arnt really of use to us. But a push update prompt as soon as there is something to download or talk about would be a great feature!! you can see where i am going with this! [image: attachment_p_27996_0_iobit-news.jpg]

@Sir: Windows 8 has a App screen, enabling uses to run programs within an instant. I know and it looks terrible. If I’m ever forced to buy a PC with Windows 8 that would be the first thing to go. :D @Sir: But i can say for certain as time moves on our main competitor will develop a gadget, just like many other main vendors ie Nero, Roxio who have backup, Virtual drivers tools Nero & Roxio are two programs that have become bloated with useless junk over the years, not really good examples. ;)

@spwolf: do you actually burn anything to the USB Flash drive or is it copying? You dont actually burn to a non CD/DVD drive it’s just one of them techy phrases people seem to assosiate when making a copy, moving a file structure from one place to another. ie “i’ll burn you a copy” So, for a USB it is indeed a copy, or move of one file structure or extracting an archive “ISO” to a drive in such a way it can be read within boot. Unless you actually use a DVD Drive to laser binary code to a CD, DVD or blu-ray you arnt burning anything ;)

Hi, I did have an issue a while back. I downloaded a kosher ISO (a Linux Distro based on Gentoo) IIRC. I wanted to have a peek inside the ISO before I used it. I complained to the webmaster that the ISO must be corrupt as it would not open in PA. Turns out the ISO was okay, but PA would not read it. This was the first and last time I have come across the issue.

There are two (somewhat related suggestions) I made some time ago. Perhaps you decided the suggestions weren’t especially meritorious; perhaps there are technical reasons why neither is feasible. If either is true, sorry to be a pest. On the other hand, on the off chance that these got got lost in the wash of suggestions . . . . Both concern adding files to a previously created archive. (1) I would like to be able to move, and not just copy, files to an archive. So could you add a variation on the Windows trick of moving by default, and copying if dragging and dropping while holding the control key? (Or, if you want copy to be the default, move when the user holds the Shift key.) Now if I move it (which is usually what I do), I have to copy it, and then delete (or wipe) the old file. (2) a significant number of times, these are encrypted archives. When I copy now, the encryption option is always listed as disabled. So I have to click the down arrow and choose the encryption method. I would guess, though, that most people who add a file to an encrypted file want the new file also encrypted. So what not make that the default (or at least an options in the config settings to make it the default). Not a huge time savings . . . but a time savings for sure. It also ensures that the user doesn’t leave traces of the moved file.
