Can you include .3MF to the list of re-compressible formats? Its structure is similar to MS Office 2007 documents and Open Document Format. It is a ZIP Deflate archive with XML data and some JPG, and/or PNG pictures inside. Otherwise, if I try to compress .3MF it bearly makes it smaller unless I recompress .3MF to the Store setting then it makes it a lot smaller.
Wish they all would move to 7zip ZSTD in the first place so that the optimized file size with FileOptimizer would be 50% of the ZIP Deflate version. And there would be no extra compression needed :)
I noticed that the option to add the optimize archive function to the context menu is missing on Windows 10.
Opening each archive with the interface in order to click it becomes tedious with many files.
Same for others functions like Remove Archive Encryption
Better password security for files you use

i would like pa using password protected archives to extract the file to a secure folder when opening them as at present once they are extracted anyone can intercept them and copy them.
basically what i want to do is double click on a passworded file inside powerarchiver open it up useit save it, and update archiver without anyone being about to intercept the file before its updated the archive and secure again

What do you mean under “extract the file to a secure folder”. What is “secure folder”?
To be able to open/modify any compressed file, it must be extracted first. It is extracted to temp folder.
And what do you mean under “intercept the file”? Do not allow anyone to access your PC. Remove malware from your system. If there is something that can “intercept you files” it can also intercept your typed password and use it to extract your archive.Anyway, there is great feature in … one of PA’s competitors that automatically wipes temporary files. I like this one.

temp file is created only when the correct password is input, once the temp file is used it is deleted
unless you extract the file

Sure, but it would be good to not just “delete” the temp file, but WIPE it so it cannot be recovered…

probably open new thread for wiping so it can be easily seen :-)

what i was trying to get across was that when u open a passworded file it create a non passworded temp file this file can be copied by people. Is there a way to make it more secure while you are using a passworded file.

NTFS explained it well, there is no security issue there… if your system’s security has been compromised then you better not open archive on that computer at all, because someone will be able to get your password and your file.

just thought there could of been a way to protect the file more from a powerarchiver point of view

12.5 Beta has wiping implemented… closing this thread.
