That’s part of the reason their security is kind of ridiculous is because it doesn’t scan any files that it doesn’t recognize the extension. I think 7z and rar are not scanned. Could this change in the future yes. But I choose zip because most people have some kind of utility to extract this. Where encryption or other format might not be as well adopted. We use gmail hosting for a couple of domains that we have to send things out from. As well as my personal email.

You can backup to USB stick in PA Backup as well, up to 3 different drives (including USB sticks) at the same time, plus dvd and plus ftp. Just select drive that USB stick is and it will back it up there.

PA Starter is one that dynamically loads PA when needed:-). Thats why it is done in different programming language so memory usage would be minimal.

@wulffra: Thanks for the quick feedback. Not in the 2010-version… That’s bad luck. It’ll take quite some time before the new release will come out, I mean, the one áfter 2010. My personal guess is that many of us would like to have it, so they can do with one application, instead of two. But how to find out ? == it will take us a bit to make it, test it and release it… we will see once 2010 is out of the door, so we can breathe again :)

Yes, I agree with this. Also I hope a fixed driveletter can be configured for the virtual drive, e.g. ‘Z’. Right now it takes any first free driveletter, but such driveletter may be reserved for other purposes (e.g. Bestcrypt container). ==

In the file associations menu, could you please list next to each extension whether or not it is currently associated with any program (and if so, what program it’s associated with)? It makes it easier to manage default programs on your machine. Thanks

i know but i ned to have the archive format as i use it a lot and winuha does not support all the other formats pa does.

I am a new user and curently using PA 2010 11.50.48 RC1. I apologize first if some of my wishes are just consequeces of being Beta/RC and some kind of fix/improvement is already planned. 1. The “Extract to …” dialog/window: This is resizable, but its size is not remembered. There is a tree inside the window and I would like to keep it a certain size all the time. 2. Preview Window: Its position is constantly reset, like when I change Modern Toolbar to Classic Toolbar. I would like its position to be remembered too. The same goes to FTP, Backup List, and Command Prompt Window. 3. The UI font: I wish that users can change this independently. The same way users can change the font for file names and for command prompt. 4. Compress option: I wish there is an option somewhere to delete the original file(s) being compressed. Thanks.

I support it but… Im with moles. The Office 2007 ribbon looks far more polished and refined. I dont care for the new ribbon in Office 2010 and Win Live Apps. If a 2010 style could be added as an option I am all for it. So long as I can opt to use the 2007 style. This way everyone can have what they prefer.

I would like an option to burn a BIN file to a CD or DVD just like you can with an ISO file.

FYI when I use the Extract button there is no extra copying, it’s direct. Copying only happens when using drag and drop. MarcFou may have a problem I do not. Good luck with solving that, and if it’s something that could easily happen to others, please post cause and resolution. Thanks.

As Win7 just went into RC stage and PA still in BETA, now is a good time to make sure no pesky compatibility issues pop up (so that we won’t have to wait for a new version to wrinkle them out). I plan to install an RC of win7 shortly and check this out, but perhaps some of you guys are already running win7beta and can say if everything works? :-)

when extracting spanned rar archives from context menu (file names goes like name.part##.rar) the folder is created under the name “name.part01”. that really isn’t useful - can’t PA ignore the “part##”?

it’s not that this “is not the most appropriate for this question” so much as flat out not the place for it. how exactly do you imagine your issue related to PA’s next version?

In Office 2007 when you click the orb button to view the recently opened/saved files, you have the option to ‘pin’ files to the menu so they always remain. Since PA follows the Office style (ribbon, orb button etc) I thought it would be an excellent feature to add. It would be very useful if you could clear recent files and not lose the pinned ones that you use often. Like wise as files get bumped out of the menu to make room for new ones, again the pinned files would remain. I attached a concept image of what I am describing.
