Can you include .3MF to the list of re-compressible formats? Its structure is similar to MS Office 2007 documents and Open Document Format. It is a ZIP Deflate archive with XML data and some JPG, and/or PNG pictures inside. Otherwise, if I try to compress .3MF it bearly makes it smaller unless I recompress .3MF to the Store setting then it makes it a lot smaller.
Wish they all would move to 7zip ZSTD in the first place so that the optimized file size with FileOptimizer would be 50% of the ZIP Deflate version. And there would be no extra compression needed :)
I noticed that the option to add the optimize archive function to the context menu is missing on Windows 10.
Opening each archive with the interface in order to click it becomes tedious with many files.
Same for others functions like Remove Archive Encryption

Hi there,
I
ve searched for unicode problems, but mainly the search came up with unicode file name problems… Well, right now i use the German version of PA 10.22.02\. I
m running on a Japanese Windows Vista Sp1 install, however. This gives me pretty much every German special character, that is ÄÖÜ äöü ß, interpreted as Japanese Text due to the system locale being Japanese.
The same goes for the Shell Shortcuts in Windows Explorer.
Ive even tried AppLocale, but that doesn
t help either, though I suspect that since there is no current version of it for Windows Vista, it might not work at all because of the new rights model used in Vista…Are there any plans to correct this at all? Or can I counter that somewhere hidden in the PA options?
Thanks in advance,
FreakRob

Hi,
are we talking about interface, or file listings? Shell extensions change to unicode will wait until next major release (not one coming very soon) but regards to other things, it should be improved in upcoming one.
Of course, you can change your system locale to german and it will work perfectly fine, even under Japanese Vista, if you select proper options under Language options in Control Panel.

Yes, we`re talking interface here, not file listings inside an archive or any such thing. I will produce a Screenshot for you.
I know it would work fine under German locale, however then Japanese programs would not as well as Vista would probably keep bugging me…
Anyway, nowadays I think there is no need to have ANSI programs that look different everywhere depending on the system locale when you can have UTF-8 programs that work fine everywhere.
Thats why I
m asking this.cYa,

I understand - we will see what we can do. Unfortunatly, it is not as simple as it seems and as it should be.
thanks

Thank you :D

version of our programming language that natively supports Unicode has been released month ago… thats only way this is possible, and it is major work that is coming within next 12 months or maybe even a lot sooner if everything goes as planned…

So is this still being worked on? Not being able to work with files that have characters not in the locale as well as the visual interference with the interface are stll really bugging me.

PA 2010 can perfectly work with unicode files in zip and 7zip formats. ZIP Unicode support has been added and was big part of new zip engine…
Interface itself is still not unicode, and it wont be until PA 2011 when we change to Delphi 2009 which supports unicode. We already did most of the work, but few components that we are using are still in beta testing with Delphi 2009.

What about the rar format?
Actually, PA 2010 11.50.48 RC1 doesn’t display unicode names correctly inside rar files. (It seems to extract them OK.) -

Yes, I am. What is the best way to file a bug report?
