@davidsplash: i was jsut generalising for instance some iso can not be opened by pa. it would also help compatibility with other archivers. those are completly different, ISO files dont have version info in them like zip archives, and even in zip archives, that info is always wrong for compatibility reasons.

I sure hope this is going to be added soon. It’s sorely missing from PA versus the alternative(s).

I wonder if you could make the ‘yes’ button in the attached dialogue the default for the mouse cursor snap-to function please. TIA DrT [image: attachment_t_4257_0_checkout.jpg]

When right clicking a folder (say ‘myfolder’) I get the option to create myfolder.zip. What I’d like to see is a template, where I could select a format (say folderName_YearMonthDay) and have the right click automatically archive to myfolder_091101. I use this function for making iterative backups, so it’d be good to have this so I didn’t have to rename the previous file before making the next. I wonder how many other folks out there would find this useful.

Hello, Yes. I know - wich i pointed out. I also know there is a plugin availible. But with the plugin i can only Extract SQX-Archives and not create them (wich is supported by the plugin). All i’d like to see that the plugin Interface gets Extended to allow Compression of the Pluginformats. I like (need) and use the Signatur and the Recovery Records of the SQX Archives very often - specially the Signature. RAR has this feature to but RAR can not be created via Powerarchiver. If you could add Sigantures and Recovery-Records to 7z i’d use 7z. But at the Moment there are no Signatures and Recovery-Records in 7z. And last time i looked it also wasn’t planed at the moment. SQX has this features is nearly as good in Compression as 7z and on my PC faster than 7z (not the Powerarchiver-Implementation). So please extend the plugin Interface to allow the Compression of the Plugin Formats. Best Regards, TWPhoenix aka R. I believe this would be a problem with “solid” archives as they would need to be extracted first. Also a problem, of course, with encrypted archives.

I don’t think you have this . . . if so, I aologize. It would be nice to have a feature that automatically wipes (and not just erases) temp files created when extracting from an archive.

I know its selfish but My reason for knowing each files MD5 was so i could look it up at VirusTotal.Com before opening them. but their service only scans 20MB files and i could use my own scanner. its not a big deal.

what i would like is more archive formats to be made avaliable. like sit extraction. which is allowed checked this. what i would also like is a way to add more archive formats ourselves as via the plugins doesnt seem to work as there is no real info on this system and not all totatl commander plugins works.

@nameless: Yay indeed. Thank you. I do appreciate it. I found that the “Compressing Files…” and “Mode:” items are grayed out until I select the “Open archive after creation…” option. For some reason, selecting that option “ungrays” those things. (The same type of thing happens with the other options in the dialog, although in some cases the applicable option has to be checked and then unchecked for the “ungraying” to occur.) thanks :)
