while we just last week, Microsoft sent us all the info for the store, it is unlikely that these store updates will have same timing as our regular updates… plus it will likely do everything all over again… but lets see what happens.

@drteeth said in Is this possible?: Is it possible to burn an ISO without extracting it from a ZIP file first? If it is not possible yet please put it on the wish list. If it is possible, could you please let me know how. Thanks DrTeeth PS Don’t like the new forum at all. i guess we could make it you can click on Burn on supported ISO inside archive, and it would do everything for you. It would still have to extract the file, but it would be to temp folder and deleted after PA exit?

Hi, You should add a option that creates independent spanned zip files, based on approximate file size or maximum amount of files per zip. For example, I’m working on a project that requires ~2,000,000 files that are ~272GB in size. The machine I’m working on has only 60GB of free space, so I can’t put all of these files on the machine at the same time. Current span zip option allows me to split the zip files, but is dependent on all of them for extraction. I would like to create 5GB zip files and move them one by one for processing. After processing I’d delete the extracted files and move in the next zip file. I currently use a software called “SpinZip” which does the above, but I’d really like if it could be implemented in PowerArchiver.

what would be nice is if powerarchiver could have a section that could tell you biased on the files you’ve chosen what archive format is smallest. I know this would take some time, as the only reliable way would be to test each archive format out, by doing a temp version of each archive format then deleting it. However this would give people a clear concise answer instead of having to do this themselves let powerarchiver do this and tell us.

Hi, I would like to know if support for “Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage” is available also in the Pro version? This cloud service combined with server backups would be a very nice thing. Best regards!

What would be nice is and better for security would be if we create an archive within powerarchiver that it signs powerarchiver with version of powearchiver it is created with and who created it. Great way to catch bugs in version. I had this problem with another archiver and found out its update caused me not to get into my zip files. I just don’t want to be left out in the cold as they say again. I know powerachiver would not have this problem but it would be a much safe for all of us to ensure that if we can’t access a compressed file that we know its not a powearchive update software fault.

@fullbugg: While I am not new to archiving I am new to PowerArchiver. So far I am enjoying the abilities and working with the software but there is one feature that I would truly like to see added. When creating an archive and adding the delete source folder option being able to perform a test of the archive before deleting the source would be helpful. If this feature is already present I am unable to locate it. with ZIP format, there is an option of Action: Move, which basically deletes original files once they have been compressed. Please check it out and let us know if it works as intended. Thank you!

@spwolf: Interesting, lets see if our setup can save choices! It is not that an unusual offering. I cannot imagine the options needing to be changed that often by anybody. Thanks for considering.

You can uncheck ISO from file format list. As to returning Windows Explorer, it is simple. Right click on the file in Windows Explorer, then use Open With> Chose another app… then select Windows Explorer and check Always open with… and thats it, it will always open with Windows Explorer!

Hi there, Some additions I’d love to see, just some suggestions ofcourse: When dragging a file from a zip in PA2016 to the desktop it doesn’t place it at your cursor but places it at the first available spot from the top left down. 7-zip for example places it at where your cursor is which is very handy. By default, turn ‘Play sound when operation is completed’ automatically off, it’s very annoying to hear a sort of ‘error’ beep when something completes. Upgrade the icons so the different archives are more easy to spot, now they sort of all look the same, a vague sort of folder. Make it like 7-zip, each format has it’s own icon. Startup speed needs to dramatically increase. Compared to 7-zip the startup speed is way way way to slow. And yes, I use a SSD (Samsung 850 Pro) Default explorer extensions are a big cluttered mess in my opinion. Place all the stuff under the PowerArchiver subfolder Other than that, keep up the good work :)

Same need as any of the other Cloud Services except this one gives me unlimited storage for $60 a year. So it is becoming my go to Cloud. Sorry it took to long to reply. Real busy with work this time of year.

Hello Pawul, problem with filename encryption in ZIP is that it is patented by PKWARE and we can not add support for it… we have support for opening such files tough. This is only part of ZIP standard that is patented, rest of it is public domain. So if you need zip, you can use that workaround, or you can use pae2 or 7zip. Thanks and let us know of more of your ideas if you have them!

The big advantage would be able to restore a few files without having to restore a large archive over a slow cloud connection.
