Good point Davidsplash! This was something I also noticed! it would also be nice if the update feature in PowerArchiver included plugins and gave the user the option to install them from their main PA console instead of having to go online!

PA, Is it possible you can setup PA so it has the same top right buttons on the menu bar as those in vista within your Main application. As attached, I have just copied and pasted over the simple crosses which PA Currently has!

Well, I cant say if they all work but… @spwolf: Plug-ins http://www.totalcmd.net/directory/packer.html So possibly only the “packer” plug-ins are supported. Note: I do know Total SQX does not work See also http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2260 Also, see http://www.powerarchiver.com/plugins/ The official list ;-)

May be possible for “low security” passwords (with AES it isn’t) but then why bother using low security in the first place? You should only use archive passwords when you need the security.

@spwolf: we are going to have plugins in PA 2007, same format as TC plugins… so write an plugin and kill two flies with the same stone :-) Does that mean we’ll be able to use the TC Plugins within powerarchiver that are already out there

Can’t comment on Vista specific things but… @Snk: when selecting multiple uncompressed files there is no “Compress to filename.zip” (compress each file to seperate archive with similar name) In PA - use “Batch Archive” or In explorer (shell options) - “Batch Zip” @Snk: When dragging a compressed file to another location (with the right mouse button) there is a built-in Vista “Extract here” option. Could there be a power archiver extract here option as well? This is available in Windows XP - have you enabled “extract to current folder” in the FOLDER options?

It turns out you can create an archive and make it a self-extracting executable (SFX file), all at the same time, IF you use “SFX Wizard” button. You cannot do so by using the “Add Archive” button, nor can you do it from any of the Shell Extension options. I am glad that the SFX Wizard doesn’t only apply to existing archives, but can also be used to create an archive and make it a SFX file at the same time. However, I would still like to see this ability from the “Add Archive” process or as a Shell Extensions option. The benefit from being able to right/alternate-click on a file, group of files, or folder and create a new archive and make it a SFX file at the same time is obvious. However, why would one want to be able to create a SFX file from within the “Add Archive” process? One simple example is… You started to create a new archive and have named the archive as well and added all of the files/folders you want packaged in the archive. Now, you decide you want to create an SFX file. You don’t want to cancel the process you have already started, start the SFX Wizard and have to redo everything. You would like to be able to “turn on” or “toggle on” the SFX option and PA would automatically change the new archive name from NAME.ARE (where ARE is the archive extension… ZIP, 7Z, CAB, etc) to NAME.EXE. Of course, you could alter the path/name of the new file still and there would now be some SFX applicable options that would appear. If you change your mind again, you could “turn off” or “toggle off” the SFX option and PA would remember the archive type you had selected before (ZIP, 7Z, etc) and change the name of the new archive back to NAME.ARE accordingly. I hope that makes sense to everyone.

@Jr: Now only the english & german version can be downloaded from an European mirror. Is it possible that also other languages like the dutch(this one at least :D ) be on an mirror site there is really no reason for it though - we just made “mirrors” so people who might have issues downloading PA, can try again with another link and skip their ISP cache… Main mirror actually calculates the best connection anyway and points you there :-).

moved to the wishlist… Administrators can already create their own registration settings themselves and apply them. How hard is to use regedit.exe? If you cant use regedit.exe, then you probably dont need to save/export PA configuration settings. Of course, only reason you have to re-enter the settings in Beta’s is because of the BUG and using beta’s, of course :-). Problem with adding any feature is that you have to add it, translate it, troubleshoot it, support it and maintain it. So unless it is really crucial, its better not to add another feature that nobody will use :-), since we already have list of features for next releases. When you have 3,000 features, it is hard to use them all and be able to present them to the users :-).
