Hi, it would be great if there were some more useful functions available in the extraction window. e.g. adding “default extract location” to it so the user can directly choose in the Extraction dialog, where he want’s to extract his files extract to current folder extract to /archive folder extract to last extracting folder or user definded folder. normally this options are available in the optionsmenu. But it would be cool, if these options would be directly available in the extraction window.

@FineWolf: Make it an option and off by default. You could add a little label below the option explaining that there will be no notification and bla bla bla… Yes, this would fit! what do you think?

JAR (new ARJ) is not so widespread and that is the reason why it’s not supported. There are many formats that even show better results than 7-ZIP and CAB - like SQX - but are not so used so no need for extending our application, making it slower, bigger just to support one more format that use less then 1% of users. 7-ZIP is supported becasue it’s open-source and it is the only format that is constantly growing. JAR is vey old format - I rembebr it since 1996, but still didn’t grow. And, as I know, JAR compression is protected - like RAR, ARJ and ACE - we could probably make only support for decompression, but never compression itself.

@spwolf: We dont really answer wishlist items BEFORE we start developing new version, unless it is something really, really interesting… This has been discussed before - we cant add support for all of the formats out there simply because PA would become HUGE and slow. It already is quite big. Reason we chose 7zip is because it is an open source format. p.s. keep in mind that 9.0 has been just released. And I do think that all of the new features in it were take from our users wishlist, werent they? Please do not be too hard on us, in past few days I have spent few hours per day just on forums, and real work doesnt get done that way :-). thank you and keep your suggestions coming. I miss: Encryption more file formats Changeable icon and information Window and language (like in Cornishs SFX-Maker - i still using that very good app!!) some options for software installation more customisable window and about messsages

@klumy: Suggestions for 7ZIP should go to http://www.7zip.org I think this is more effective. Because, PA authors can just use functions in 7ZIp plugins, which 7zip.org provides Encryption support is a part of the current 7z.dll so PA could use it already. :rolleyes:

Youre right! When PA gets the .rar plugin too (after the now working plugins) the price must be boosted! Then not so many people will buying winRAR but Powerarc and this will be a good deal! Therefore it would be even a good deal when we become the .rar plugin integrated into PA for a little Price boosting…
