you are wrong there, repairing rar files in other packages have been around a long time they just license the rar format from the makers of winrar. The other point to make is that this as you said this might infringe the license of rar format however you can not create or add files to a rar file that is repaired you can only repair it, which would get around this problem as you have to have a rar file in order to repair the file. So u can’t create a rar file , i mean convert another format into rar, so no conflict on license.

This is already possible: Hold CTRL to select/deselect single files Hold Shift to select a range of files This behavior is well-known for me (as a software developer), but I think it’s not very common for the average computer user. A list of checkboxes would increase usability a lot and it’s well-known from installers.

I request that it be considered to include a bit more complex options for the “method” setting for the backup script. A setting that would _only _update and add new files, without taking the time to recompress the entire archive would be nice. Also, a setting to delete files from the backup that had been deleted from the source would be good. The first thing especially I think would increase greatly the speed involved in making an incremental backup. Thanks. Adam__

Because the Plug-ins download page is incomplete and the help file (available with PowerArchiver install) is incorrect, it would be nice to see the following updates. Currently, I only see information relevant to installing plug-ins by searching the forum. Plug-ins Page: Please add a description of how to install the .ppf plug-ins available for download. Help File / Plugins (Configuration/Options): Please change the plugins tab in options / configuration of the main program so that it supports ppf files. Also, update the help file to include ppf files (not just wcx files which I’ve never even seen).

@spwolf: maybe in the future… MAYBE. For creating plugin that works with command line rar. That will have to be in PA 2008 since current plugins can do only extract. But again, MAYBE. This would be the #1 program if you could make RAR with File Repairing and variable amount of redundancy for better error ercovery.

@fluoro: … Usually when I’m trying to extract an archive, I create a folder and copy the archive into it and want to extract it there… To change this when using PowerArchiver (rather than explorer shell), check the different choices available under Configuration/Folders - Other Default Extract Location.

A very minor detail, but would you consider adding an option for smaller toolbar icons? I really like having a toolbar so I don’t want to actually turn it off… but it is borderline ridiculously large.

Hi PA Crew Hope you are all well, When there is no values in the Select Backup button it still shows a drop down option showing “No Recent Backups”. It would be nice that it is Disabled untill a backup was created or edited then it would be enabled and show valid values. Another idea would be in the Configuiration screen under “Folders” there is an option to select a default location for PowerArchiver Backup scripts and Backup Archive Locations. The reason why is that I and many other users have external Harddrives than we use to store both the script(s) and archive(s) when making backups. It would be a great little time saver if PA provided the option to default those options for you. no.1 password unmasked. I’d like to see that not only in the SFX, but in the password window itself, when extracting with PA, nothing worse than thinking did i type that in correctly, is that why its saying password error, or is it infact the password itself is incorrect, but you cant tell because all you see is *********, would be nice to actually see the password. A simple switch in the options, show password tick / no tick you see the asterix. The changing of the sfx icon, erm, rather have a smaller SFX module.

Agree, there are other posts on here with regards to creating plugins and how can we do it! I am really keen to start work but havnt yet found out where to start! Some help would be nice…

PA, Really Easy one for you, when runing an installation from an Archive PA Askes if you want to delete or keep the tempory location saved. Can you add a button to “Open Location”?? and yes I know you can just open the archive without installing as well as extract the data to a selected folder. it would just be a nice to have and a quick option should the user require access. One Area I find slightly frustrating about PowerArchiver is the fact that when I have encrypted/passworded zip files and I type in the wrong password it only tells me after it has gone through the process of decryption. It would be nice if you type the wrong password and click ok it says instantly that the password is incorrect and asks again. I also think it should close down the PA Application if you get the password wrong more than 5 times. In order to stop Happy Hackers and programs using bruite force.
