moved to the wishlist… Administrators can already create their own registration settings themselves and apply them. How hard is to use regedit.exe? If you cant use regedit.exe, then you probably dont need to save/export PA configuration settings. Of course, only reason you have to re-enter the settings in Beta’s is because of the BUG and using beta’s, of course :-). Problem with adding any feature is that you have to add it, translate it, troubleshoot it, support it and maintain it. So unless it is really crucial, its better not to add another feature that nobody will use :-), since we already have list of features for next releases. When you have 3,000 features, it is hard to use them all and be able to present them to the users :-).

@Snk: I think the queue idea is amazing and highly useful but I think it could be improved by allowing it to be dynamically started when needed (aka detects you want to extract more than one file and THEN starts the queue)… also closing the queue app when the queue is emptied. it is dynamically started right now - you can set minimum size for archive to be added to the queue for example. Due to several different possible usages, PA Starter has to be in system tray, however it is extremly small and very memory light application - it is only 206kb (code itself is 60kb, rest is images).

First of all, keep up the great work! just wondering if it would be possible to add support for recognizing multi-part rar filenames. For example: filename.part1.rar filename.part2.rar filename.part3.rar when you right click on filename.part1.rar and select extract to folder it will create a folder called “filename.part1” instead of just “filename”

@jowood: There is no Winrar patent, neither in Europe nor in US. correct. I very much doubt that they have patented actual format. however that is still possible, and changes nothing.

It would be nice if PA had support for .uif (MagicISO Universal Image Format File) files. I just formated my PC and I want to keep it clean, I already installed everything I need and now I will have to install MagicISO just to mount this .uif image file I downloaded.

This is the very first time I have heard of this format. It must very unpopular, either because of some sort of patent or just weak compression. There are many file formats which are dead. I have not seen ZOO files in years for example. The once popular ARJ is now extinct. BH and LZH (or LHA) are also a rare site to see. Zip, RAR and 7ZIP are the top formats today. ACE is rare but still see it once in a while. Cab is used in some installation files but no files are really distributed on the net as CAB. Is EAZ support really required? Who uses it? A gem from the Eazel site: " It is an inincomparable fast compressor and decompressor." What are they trying to say O_O? Mame

why not replace the notepad as your second viewer in condiguration then locations menu with this viewer and instead of using pa’s internal viewer use this http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/ATViewerExe.html this is supported by total commander and should be used by pa in the long run as it adds afr better support than pa’s lack luster viewer and let pa work on improving pa’s archiving capabilities and not its interal viewer. Pa supports windows programs that are on your pc already. If not this viewer should do the job or you can request more info on it at above link

@By-Tor: It would be a helpful feature indeed to have the former associations displayed as some other programs do. One shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get the installation they want. Totally Agree By-Tor! Application Developers have started taking this into consideration when designing new software, Just like the ingredients on a food package most end users need to know what’s in it and how it will affect them / their system.

Roger that I just tested PA2007 and it Fails to extract the files if the following is done: 1. Make a zip file and choose Aes256 as encryption 2. Convert to SFX 3. Run It says it could not extract. You can do it the long way and open the file with PA. But that kind of defeats the purpose of SFX. Mame

PA already supports that. Mode “PkZip 4.5” - makes PkZip 4.5 compatible archives, readable by newer versions of all popular compression utilities. naming scheme: test.zip.zip, test.zip.z01, test.zip.z02, etc. “PkZip/PA 7.0” - makes archives that are compatible with both PkZip and PowerArchiver 7.xx. naming scheme: test.zip, test.z01, test.z02, etc.

@Sir: I see clearly now! :) Well I can but wait till PA 2007! and hope that those improvments will reflect. Understand the delay in excel as i use it on a very regular basis. However, my main enquiry was regarding any office application. Thank for the update? PS: When do you think PA 2007 Will be released? for instance, with Word, you have to quit word and it will save the file. So it depends on specific application. As to PA 2007, should be soon, no specific dates as usually it always gets delayed for whatever reason…
