@TBGBe: Why do you want a “license window” on an Archive? It sounds like you actually want to create an installer not an archive. I’m sure this i what Wandus want. To create a simple sfx used for installations like Winzip self-extractor (the separate product) and WinRAR can do. PA can create sfx as well, but winrar and the winzip self extractor are simply better for that purpose. It’s not a replacement for installshield and similar products that is a lot more advanced, but a simple sfx module to distribute software. I agree with Wandus that a better sfx module in PA would be nice so i vote for this as well.

We cant make compressing decompressing 7z files faster (it is as fast as in 7z), but we can add all formats that are already in 7z, and improve support for formats that we already have

There is nothing stupid about asking! Thanks a lot. Your comments make us create better software by understanding how people use PowerArchiver. I am also glad you are not mad at us anymore :-)

Sorry Brian, I am talking about the general introduction to picture compacting and resizing into PowerArhiver. Something that isnt currently available and is in other competitor vendors. Have updated Thread Name to be more clear.

I was confused by your saying “like 7-zip” at one point then later “7-zip does with Zip”; thanks for clearing it up. But I’m just another user like you - although I’ve been around here a bit longer :D

@alextorex: Hi I need this feature quite badly. For example, I need to delete archives immediately after a archive is extracted so I can free up space for extracting another archive. Also in case of creating archives I need to delete automatically files archived. I don’t see how some other tool/script can do this since it does not know when Power Archiver finished an archive job in queue. Please check “Extract Now” free software which supports this feature very well. As a suggestion you could consider adding ability to run scripts triggered by events (archive job finished) and pass parameters to script with name of archive extracted (in case of extraction) or name of folder archived (in case of archiving). I can understand that this feature can be quite problematic to implement but would give me some solution to write my own script. Extract Now is truly the solution that I’ve been looking for… thank you so much for this recommendation! Power Archive was such a good software to use for most things and for many years have been following its progress, but given that the most important thing we dont have these days is time, the feature that Extract Now gives for free is actually one of the top feature that I would have easily be willing to pay for… I’m so compelled to post this message because I feel strongly that this feature is a huge time saver and should be integrated into PA asap… the feature to ‘move’ original archive files ‘after’ its been extracted so that its not instantly deleted would have solved a lot of the concern people have of loosing something they’re not aware, it gives them the ability to double check that the extraction was successfull then they can just simply delete the ‘extracted archives’. If most of the feature from Extract now could be build into PA, Power Archiver will be indeed the archiving software that is truly powerful. Right now I can breath easier knowing that things are going to be better for me after I found Extract Now… a software I would have been willing to pay good money for, even if its free its worth supporting. Currently letting it go thru the whole folders of archives and doing stuff that I would have normally had to do manually that is, unzip and delete over and over again. (could have written a batch file in dos probably to take care of it, but couldnt be bothered)

Am not sure whether PA has been designed to replace specialized tools, like the one you mentioned. Assume PA’s encryption will be sufficient in, by far, most cases. That aside, specialized tools, like Deslock have a different pricetag and may be less ‘userfriendly’. It is a bit like with ‘wiping’ data: one can use a 1 pass wiping, or follow complex schemes like DoD 5220.22-M, that are taking a century to wipe a 1TB drive. From what I have read, for the normal ‘day to day work’, a 1 pass wiping is sufficient, making it already extremely difficult (and expensive) to recover ‘wiped data’. see: http://www.anti-forensics.com/disk-wiping-one-pass-is-enough =

well users do know the difference and they should know it… if they are sending archive to someone, they have to use zip with deflate and actually thats what they do :).
