@deipotent: Since nameless is an Alpha tester, can I take his place after he’s left ? :) you can become alpha tester no matter what. Just send me an email when you want and I will let you in :-). Dont worry about him, he will come back eventually, he always does :-). He just gets angered quickly… If someone elses notices problem with RAR files, please let us know… We have few alpha testers that do a lot of unraring daily and I use it a lot and nobody reported any issues that are similar to this one thanks,

@deipotent: The error message “Check that file is not in use” is incorrect as well. It should say something like “The filename or extension is too long” instead. indeed.

I’m about to set-up a forum myself soon. Is there any particular reason you decided to pay for vBulletin instead of using the free phpBB (or other free alternatives) ?

I know it’s possible, question is… How hard is it. Since the user responds “No” to overwrite prompts, PA knows what that user response is. If all PA gets back is nothing but “No”, then … nothing got extracted. :) Thanks for reading.

@deipotent: How about a separate setting so they can be configured independently of each other. tooo many options already :-). We have to think of way to reduce them somehow, even while adding new features, because for an normal user, option menu is way too overwhelming as it is. We could set it always to be small icons in right click menu, same as what Windows Explorer does…

@Charles: In 9.11 “Set Password” is still not grayed-out when selecting .bh options to compress. And clicking on it still asks for a password and verification, but no password is set. In other formats (except zip, of course) it is grayed-out as it should be. I know it is not supposed to work in P.A., and it is not needed when we have PAE Encryption, but newbies will not know it. I last reported this a month ago. I was looking forward to seeing this fixed in this release. It is not fixed in P.A. Backup Express Lite, either. I am a little disappointed, but I’ll get over it. :) :) :) Thats why it was not replied to. We will need 9.2 to add support for bh passwords and it will need a bit of testing. thanks,

There is an known issue with Startup Guard that crashes systes after PowerArchiver is run. Other than that, it could be hard driver or ram issue as well. Generally speaking there is no known issue with PA causing system to crash and thats after few million downloads of 9.xx release. As david noted, try reinstalling PowerArchiver. If it still happens, scan your hd for errors and if there is nothing found, let us know and we will show you how to check what might be running unde pa.exe that is not from us. thank you and have a nice holidays…

We will check it out a bit futher - there is an bug there that does not allow PA to extract/open files that are smaller than windows limitation of 255 character (which is zip limitation as well), and this is what you are actually experiencing. I am not sure what exactly is current PA’s limit, it seems greater than 220 characters and less than 250. We will check it out more and fix it in one of the future revisions (but probably not the one this week since we need more time to test if we did not brake something else). thanks for the report.
