    @spwolf: PA’s SFX module can not read AES encrypted ZIP archives yet, so it will not work properly. … OK, but it would be better if PA’s “Make .EXE” feature can check whether zip-archive is AES encrypted and then abort creating an incorrect exe-file… (this is my wish)

    Thanks a lot Stephen! You saved my sanity. It was indeed the ClearType feature. I got exactly the same look by using the default of Tahoma, 8.

    For my test above (boost) I used WinZip 9 SR-1 (6224). Extracting (PA 9.21) fails - always at 47% - both using Explorer Shell and PA Main Program. { Always on file “libs/graph/example/components_on_edgelist.expected” if relevant}

    @deipotent: Call me paranoid, but I don’t trust Password managers (unless it’s my brain ;) ) Well, thats why PA does not save it originally :-). So for maximum security, you dont want it saved anywhere, and PA does that by default… If you didnt want it to appear for individual files, then you have to save it - either in memory (for duration of PA instance) or registry (Password Manager), and at least it is encrypted in the registry :-). Unless your computer is insecure (but then it would be easier just to steal original data), PM is great way of working with password protected files.

    You’re missing the point. There are two settings - the Admins (ie. yours), and the users (accessed from the “User Control Panel” link at the top of the forum). If you (ie. the Admin) set it to SHOW images, and the user has set it to NOT SHOW images in the forum Users Control Panel, then images WILL NOT be shown. If you (ie. the Admin) set it to SHOW images, and the user has set it to SHOW images in the forum Users Control Panel, then images WILL be shown. If you (ie. the Admin) set it to NOT SHOW images, and the user has set it to NOT SHOW images in the forum Users Control Panel, then images WILL NOT be shown. If you (ie. the Admin) set it to NOT SHOW images, and the user has set it to SHOW images in the forum Users Control Panel, then images WILL NOT be shown. As illustrated by my examples, even if you enable it at the Admin level, then individual users can still choose to NOT show images by setting this option in their Users control Panel. It works OK on www.wilderssecurity.com which uses the same forum software (ie. vBulletin). Please enable this option.

    @TBGBe: But in Klumy’s thread http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums…p=3248#post3248 The tray icon is “filling up” (even for single file compression) whereas the tooltip always shows 0% :confused: Here it is off topic so we should follow up on that thread (different “problem”). Yes, i noticed that later on - i thought it was zip thing that he was talking about. Will check it out. thanks,

    Confirmed with Zip compression of avi file (350MB). The tray icon “fills up” indicating progress, but the tooltip always reports 0% Edit: I did get the “balloon pop-up” on completion.

    This is a limitation of the “unrar.dll” provided by RAR Labs, according to this thread http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=495

    Hi, I am not sure about 1., will have to check out how is this calculated. As to the 2., unfortunatly that is how our zip engine works. We have made repeated requests for this feature to work based on amount data processed but nothing yet and I would not expect anything to change soon either. thanks,

    Hello, trying PA my girlfriend heavily dislikes the file-icons that PA gives to zip-files in Windows Explorer. May one change this icon manually, or is there any possibility to keep the original winzip icons. Every time PA is run icons are changed albeit zip-files are not connected with PA. Second she would like to change the yellow menu icon of any PA command in Windows Explorer context menu (Power Archiver 2004, compress and e-mail and so on). Any way to do that? Thank You very much in advance. Christoph

    @Liuk: Hi, I just had the same problem. To upgrade shell32.dll you have to install IE 4.01 SP2 using standard installation. Installation of IE 5 or any other doesn’t contain upgrade of this file. best regards, Liuk nice find - and everything works properly afterwards? thanks

    There is something wrong with their header, who knows really - it might be possible that archiving software they used had some bugs and created non-standard archives (some WZ betas were like this for example).

    i had a problem extracting fikes from zip with winzip and powerarchiver and winrar to a cdr disc. It got half way done and failed or was far too slow and no ideication anything was happening. So I thought i’d try the winuha and it worked i made the files in uha files and extracted them to the cd. I’m using adptect direct disc for this purpose. Winuha is a bit slow but the results are well worth the wait.

    You can use the free 7Zip manager to extract these files for now: http://www.7-zip.org/ Although this program isn’t as good as PowerArchiver in my opinion, it will extract files from those apparenty empty 7z files. I look forward to the next release of PowerArchiver resolving this issue as it truly is one of the very best archive managers available on the market. Hope this helps you out. Regards, Joshua Jarman

    @klumy: so the service improve the downloadspeed. Does their service also decrease the traffic for your site? What exactly do you mean? Yes, since most of downloads are not on our server, it of course reduces our own server load/traffic. However, that is not really the reason we use it - its advantage is that your users are getting the files reliably and as fast as possible.

    Heh, I think I know what might be wrong - it is something with gzip extraction in this case from shell ext - and since in main PA it is done differently, people would not notice it. I am sure we will fix it for next release. thanks!
