There has to be something in the way SQL command line works which in turn messes up your vbs script. I have absolutly no experience there so I cant be of much help, but I would check SQL server help for more info on command line and if you need to do anything special to pass command line strings.

So, what version of PA are you using? PA 2004 i think 9. something… What version of Windows? Windows XP Home Ed. SP2 Do you now the character set being used (or provide a screen shot) ? See Attachments screen shots of folders that i want to zip & error found P.S. Does 7-zip or TAR.GZ / TAR.BZ2 work? No Thank you! Got it. It has to be something with converter itself since if you simply extract that archive and compress it again, it creates correct bh file (which is what Converter is doing!). We will check it out. thanks,

So far I’ve tried e-mailing about this problem but heard no reply so I thought hopefully you guys can see my problem here. The problem I get is that when I double click on a file to open it within PA it won’t, since it won’t recognize my custom classes, as shown below (here is an example of mp3): //==Start== REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3] @=“” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\DefaultIcon] @=“C:\WINDOWS\Icons\FileIcons\FoobarFile.ico” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell] @=“foobar2000.play” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\Audacity] @=“Edit in Audacity” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\Audacity\command] @=“"C:\Programs\Audacity\audacity.exe" "%1"” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\VLC.play] @=“Play in VLC” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\VLC.play\command] @=“"C:\Programs\VLC\vlc.exe" –intf wxwin --advanced "%1"” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\foobar2000.play] @=“Play in foobar2000” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\foobar2000.play\command] @=“"C:\Programs\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe" "%1"” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\foobar2000.enqueue] @=“Enqueue in foobar2000” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\foobar2000.enqueue\command] @=“"C:\Programs\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe" /ADD "%1"” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\MediaPlayerClassic.play] @=“Play in Media Player Classic” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\MediaPlayerClassic.play\command] @=“"C:\Programs\MPC\mplayerc.exe" "%1"” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\MediaPlayerClassic.enqueue] @=“Enqueue in Media Player Classic” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\MediaPlayerClassic.enqueue\command] @=“"C:\Programs\MPC\mplayerc.exe" /ADD "%1"” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\IrfanView] @=“View in IrfanView” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\IrfanView\command] @=“"C:\Programs\IrfanView\i_view32.exe" "%1"” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\wmplayer] @=“Play in Windows Media Player” [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.mp3\shell\wmplayer\command] @=“"C:\Programs\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /Play "%L"” //==End== From what I can see (I shall use the above as an example), PowerArchiver looks for the file type (.mp3) and sees there is no supposed location for the action (it makes my job easier to put it under the extension you see), so it ignores that there is indeed an action under .mp3, unfortunately PA is the only application I’ve come accross that doesn’t like this. I actually have the latest stable (9.20) but it has done the same thing since 9.0+ I think, I’ve just beared with it for a while. Is it possible to let windows just handle it instead of PA looking for the class? Hope you can fix it, thanks.

Not possible, your files are gone! Once this has happened to you, you’ll never forget again… I always use the same password for everything so I don’t lose access to anything.

@TBGBe: This is all using windows explorer - so it does use the shell extension. Or do you mean you want a seperate “context menu” option such as “extract to …\filename” ? Hmm, “other utilities” don’t have it, so maybe it would be another advantage to using PA. Sorry - what I meant to say is that it is available under the RMB, like “Extract to”. It would then have to be named like “Extract to \multiple filenames” (or something similar) Thank you. brgds –

PowerArchiver uses SHA-1 only for crypting CRCs of original files in PAE format, and not for encrypting passwords. This makes our PAE files still safe enought, since hacking original CRC file still doesn’t give you original file nor password for decrypting original file. Brut-force attach on PAE files are also much slower since you have to decrypt file, then calculate CRC of decrypted file and then see if is matches with SHA-1 CRC in header.

@davidsplash: it does extract tfile to the folder. it should snot even atrt the process of extractimng if its the wrong password Eh, its checking the password by extracting the file. Since password is wrong, extracted file is garbage and it gets deleted. While we could have done password checking via stored hash of the password which would be still considered secure and very fast, this way dictionary based attacks are much, much slower and raise passive security of the pae files up a notch. It also might help in the future because if some hashing algorithm gets cracked completly, it can not be used to recover the data.

Yes, I see that too. Select non Zip format e.g CAB, Don’t compress etc Close options Open options Select Zip - AES Encyption is available. Leave AES Encyption unchecked. Close options Open options Zip is selected - but AES Encyption check is greyed out.

@streetskater: I’d be glad to check out PA9.5 from this end although I have no idea where to locate that verson–assume it’s an internal beta. No Current release version is 9.2 - 9.5 will be the next release version. I think/hope this was a :p http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=610 Regarding PAR2 & Yenc files - I don’t know. Maybe your newsgroup has a FAQ which covers this?

@Cyber: Alright, thanks. Additional question then, how is the the free 7-zip compression program from sourceforge supports Update and Add and Freshen options in addition to add and replace, yet PA only has add & replace for 7z? I assume they all use the same compression engine since it’s open source… Or is this another thing that will be available in a future release when the dll is updated? Currently we can not use move function. It is possible that we could use it with new support in 9.5, but I am not sure yet. We would also have to test it extensivly to make sure it works only when it should, so even if we are able to add support for it, we might not if it is not 100% reliable. In general, if it was up to me, we wouldnt have move function at all, because there is always an possibility for end user to lose their data. Obviously Igor Pavlov who created 7zip has a lot more insight into how it works than what we do, so 7zip support will always be the best inside 7zip itself :-). thanks,
