Uhm… I have tried winrar and it works… Probably because it does a sfx rar archive which has not this limitation. BTW also cab sfx doesn’t works either in PA when the zip sfx fails. Thanks for attention.

@Charles: It’s been over a month, and I still can’t find any real problems with the latest PA. Things have been so quiet! I am starting to really miss talking with you guys. And yes, I am still in BH heaven! :D I can’t get over how good this one is! of course, we will spoil that with some new beta release :-)

@TBGBe: Is that Ukranian version? English version seems to be still 9.51.01 (dated 29/11) +1 (Even if only in the filename). yeah, we had to release minor fix for translated versions, so english is still the same…

Well, the direct link didn’t work - but I found the “versions” site at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=61776&package_id=58299 0.2.4 is an old version :p anyway - From the 0.2.4 link I used the Belgium mirror and downloaded wampp-0.2.4c.zip Size : 25.2 MB (26,473,212 bytes) Size on disk : 25.2 MB (26,476,544 bytes) PA Test - OK Unzip into folder wampp-0.2.4c and got 4431 files, 651 folders So it looks like you did have a download problem.

This is not standard splitted GZIP archive, nor GZIP supports spliting. So I think this backup utility splits files in it’s own way - just file/size splitting. You can create joined archive even under command line: copy /b file.gza + file.gzb + file.gzc file.gz and then open file.gz. Try this.

@generalgrevious: every time i ask for my registration codes to be sent to me it never sends me an e-mail and also when i first registrated to powerarchiver i clicked on retreive codes and it didnt do anything. That has nothig to do with this thread, you should have done a search or created a new thread. Anyway, check the other thread for info - http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1265

the 7zip developers are going to be adding rar faetures like repairing archives the same way winrar does. So why use rar especally as they update their format more regualy than their unrar.dll which other people use to have decompression of rar.

@gen242: I would just like to make a public thank you to the Power Archiver support team. I encountered as have some others it seems the problem with the new registration process and not having login details to retrieve the new registration code. I followed the details in the previous post, contacted the support team and the same day it was resolved, with curtosy and speed. :) I am once again Power Archiving to my hearts content. Once again many thanks. Other companies could learn a lot from your support team. thank you, it is nice to hear kudos once in a while and helps us do our job even faster! :-). regards,

Keep in mind that windows file system limit is 256 characters Actually, if you use the Unicode version of the CreateFile() API, and you prefix the name with "\?" you can get a maximum of something around 32000 characters in a path on Win 2000 or later (ie., not Win9x). I know it’s not the most intuitive (and I don’t know if it’s supported by delphi or other components you use), but it’s possible. Also it’s quite possible (as you mention) that the shell might not be able to handle those paths. See the MSDN topic “Naming a File” for details: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/fileio/fs/naming_a_file.asp

ok, ok, but the backward compatibility might point the normal user to choose WinR** instead of PA…
