if you select multiextract in correct order, you wont have to work much with daily backups, just select bunch of files and hit extract… This is why most people do full backups weekly.

Did you add this to your wish? If not, add it there as well. (Check for PPM archive via filename+crc check and not filename+path). thanks - closing this, reply to your wishlist post.

@ros: I’ve made the file 21.1 2006 and that is why I not remember password. … PLEASE HELP! You have to remember the password (or at least what type of password) you may have used… Maybe if you can think WHY you used a password in the first place? what would you use… Based on Name - Yours or hers - different spellings Date - YMD / DMY… Your/Her Feelings - Happy, Sad, Angry etc… There is nothing other users (like me) or Conexware employees can do. The password can NOT be “cracked”.

That’s something I requested on the wishlist a long time ago and I haven’t seen much support for it. :( I would think more people would want to set the archive date to the most recent in the archive.

One .wav file plus one .txt is two files :D Therefore, PowerArchiver default is to use the folder name for the Zip file. I think the easiest way to accomplish what you want would be to use the “command line” utility PACL. Then you could create a simple command (aka DOS BOX) or a batch file with a “for” loop. e.g. something like:- “FOR %F IN (*.wav) DO PACOMP -a %F.zip %F.wav read.txt” see also http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100

@spwolf: Yeah, I definetly would not do anything out of zip specs with PACL. There will be no error since the whole engine does not understand anything out of spec. Using PA 2006 will be much safer. I suggest that you disable deflate 64, since it is only extra compression strenght (zip 4.5 compatible “unlimited” archive will be created anyway), and PA 2006 should be quite fast actually, even possibly faster than PACL. Thanks, I was indeed thinking that deflate was needed to get the 4.5. Since the pbs script seems to run fine from a batch file, I will use that then. Also, PA has no problems with the hidden directories. Leon Leon

I hadn’t realised that this is not possible at the moment. Wonder if it could be implemented (selecting spanning size) or would we have to wait for the upcoming “Backup Express Full” ? http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=343

I must be some kinda moron. I never tried selecting multiple files and enabling the Compress & Encrypt shell ext. After I saw it didnt work with the Encrypt only option I never tried doing it again. Now everything makes sense and I fully understand what you meant by saying you left the encrypt option in there even though its not really needed. Thanks for your patience and replies! :)

.rep are used as game files for some games, and are compressed zip archives, which is why that happens.

@spwolf: it works when you use Compress+Options, but it does not work for compress to filename.tar.bz2 for sure. I have been able to reproduce it. It is an bug and should be solved in next release. thanks! Glad it’s not me going mad. I had done some test compressions just to make sure it wasn’t a file/folder/path name problem. If it’s any help here are the results of my test compressions (1.13KB) (7zipped into one file.) Regards, Justin
