I’m not sure what kind of component issue you’re talking about, whether or not a library is a real folder I’d have thought you would still have full control over what you display in your own UI. Maybe you’re just hosting Explorer inside of that window or something… On the other hand - I really only use PA from the context menu extensions anyway so it doesn’t really bother me specifically… just figured I’d report something that was clearly not correct.

The thing is, I have a program that is not affected by that setting and always seems to show its jump list…that is why I asked. Also, pinned folders pinned to a windows explorer taskbar icon are not affected either. The program that never loses its jumplist is ‘WinSnap’ (brilliant screenshot program). Regards DrT

Thank you, spwolf! The username case-sensitivity was the issue after all. Should have thought of this myself, doh. Happy PA customer, though. Terry

Hi franky13, thanks for sending over the settings. tried with them and still worked fine. As I replied in the support ticket, if possible, send over the files you are using and we will try with those exact files to attempt to reproduce. thanks!

I’ve tried some more tests, and it does appear (as you say) to apply to .zipx files. If I create a .zip file, and upload to Google Drive from “within” the archive, it uploads perfectly. I’ll try the same thing with some more different archive types, and see what happens, but so far, this seems to be a .zipx only problem.

Hi Socrates, no addins at all are with fresh installed firefox portable (version 33). If i’m the only one with the problem then forget about it. But if others have the problem too and it is reproducible then maybe a fix is needed…

P.S. I want update the info. The PowerArchiver v14.06.04 does not open only the boot.wim file. install.wim file opens, but veeeeeery slowly. The PowerArchiver v15.00.22 opens boot.wim file normally. Any version of 7-Zip always opened all wim-files very fast, but PowerArchiver still can not do this more faster. I thought fast wim-file opening will be the gift to the users.

@robert2098: No need to reboot :), you can kill the PowerArchiver process with the Task Manager too. Thanks for confirming  It messed up my “dwm.exe” process after trying to kill PA’s process. DWM is like Windows Explorer, that gets messed up and it’s reboot time!

@spwolf: i actually had problems downloading zips yesterday too, so i will check it out on mine :-). Right now, Test does the headers check… it would be cool if we added check which actually extracts and checks files, although some would consider it pointless as it takes same time as extraction? However, it should be able to clean after itself nicely. Other archiver programs I’ve used check all the CRCs etc. when you do test and that’s what I was expecting. If it doesn’t actually test everything what is the point? You’re not actually verifying that the file isn’t corrupt are you.

I do not see the same behavior. Admittedly, I have the default ZIP PROFILE set to zipx. However, if I change to deflate, the ‘x’ disappears from the file name; if I change back to optimize, the file name extension returns to zipx. Perhaps, though, I am misunderstanding the problem. Or there is another setting somewhere that affects this behavior.

It would be good if the Patchbeam application had a option to collect a debug text file detailing what went on in the background… ie like you see during FTP… making connection, logging in username , logging password, syncing , approved etc so for this attempting connection, logging in , Error leaving proxy. The autoupdater dialog is not that different from other applications Avast, norton etc have it built in and if theirs crashes it can cause the application to require a restart. However, they have autodetect features that try’s to establish a connection using its own code logic. I wrote something similar 1. Code uses the settings provided by IE Proxy settings 2. If user enters in details it uses this instead 3. if neither of the above worked it then attempts some alternatives 4. if 1,2,3 fails it prompts the user requesting advanced details. but take into consideration the auto update hasn’t really changed since it was 1st introduced and for the majority of users it works.
