this is not what it should do as if you press cancel it should cancel the job its on thats why people press cancel. if it has to finish what its doing then it is not cancel but finish. if you are adding a large file say 2gb to an archive in your explination you have to wait for that file to be compressed before it can be canceled even though you might not want the file in the archive after all. cancel in my opion should mean what it sayes it should cancel/ terminate the job its on and preserve what it has already done. What does everyone else think.

@watcher248: Well I was thinking that when you create a zip file with Word or OpenOffice or excell etc, that the extensions reflect the program used is that incorrect? Yes, that is incorrect - “Word or OpenOffice or excell etc” don’t create Zip files! They create documents (.doc ; .xls etc). Archive programs (like PA) create Zip files. So as an example use Word to create a file “example.doc” or “example.rtf” etc. use PA to compress/archive this as using ZIP format “example.zip” (or you can rename to “example.doc.zip” / “example.rtf.zip”) And/or use PA to encrypt this :- “example.pae” (or you can rename to “example.doc.zip.pae” / “example.rtf.zip.pae”) Then use PA to open example.pae; input password extracts “example.doc” / “example.rtf” (The un-zipping is handled transparently).

I noticed a slight change in speed. It opens just a bit faster. It closed much faster than before. With previous betas I could see the ribbbon collapsing item by item in a fast series of flickers. Thats been resolved.

Optimized works by filtering extensions that it thinks are better for lzma/ppmd. Those text files are then, obviously, put together in the same solid block. It is not mutually exclusive, whatsoever - they actually work quite well together and thats reccomended usage (with solid and optimized together).

In b4 the Main PA window closes on extraction, so the status bar is no longer visible :p Extraction window displays information, so this can be closed.

Just a minor UI request. Can we get a large FTP button instead of the 16x16 size? Some how I spend too much time looking for it and its right in front of me  I also wouldnt mind a large EMail button. Maybe it can be made optional to choose button sizes? @spwolf: please check with beta 4 now avail. through web update and let us know if this has been improved. thanks! It has gone back to the b2 behaviour. The app looks as it should, but the old style WinXP min, restore and max buttons in the upper right ‘breakthrough’ either fully or partially (top 10-20%) when I move my mouse cursor over them. Cheers DrT
