Is it just me or is there no way to add comments to zip archives before they’re fully created? It seems it is an option that should be offered at creation time rather than having to find an obscure menu entry after actually creating the zip.

I used a program called Squeez which supports the SQX format. Compression takes longer than 7-ZIP! 7-ZIP still has the better compression in most of my tests! When SQX is smaller, the difference is only about 2%. Ultra compression settings were used. I used a 3 GHz PC, so if something takes long, it’s a problem! Frankly, 7-ZIP is still the boss!

@spwolf: why do you need it on by default? Simply select option you wish to use, this is why there are options :-). Ok. I know that :). It was only a suggestion. Personally I prefer to have uncluttered menus (like MS office i.e.). Thank you for “express” answer. PA is a very good program anyway!!

@spwolf: can you use name based on first attachment? Or do you need both options? thanks Well it would be nice to be able to select the name if there are more then one files in the attachment. If there is only one file in the attachment this option works good but i send out multiple attachments.

the speed is dependent on your system and it has to calculate what to display rather than rushing out with garbage like some other programs can do sometime

this as i said before could be done as a plugin so users can decide what formats they need and this would mean pa would not become bloated as some people say it would.

I agree with spwolf…a tabbed interface would just add some bells&whistles to PA, without introducing any really useful functionality. The only thing would be a more compact gui when more archives are opened.

I upgraded to PowerArchiver 2006 and that is really great… but as a better release is always possible I may suggest the following: Why not to enlarge the domain of processable archives to image (floppy, hard drive) files? That may be accomplshed by developing a full new product (“PowerImage”) or adding the image processing capabilities to the existing PowerArchiver, may be introducing two options, standard and advanced, with different prices. In either way, a new product or a two levels single application, the impact on marketing sales may be very impressive as there is no such application to day and the need for image files processing is growing to the virtualization boom that Windows Vista will boost giving up 16 bits subsystem’s support… This was suggested me by the (read only) iso functionality that is a first step toward an integrated processing of archive-like files. By the way the products available for image processing are poor both in user’s interface and handling capabilities. Best Regards
