Oh, yes! Queue was dramatically improved! [DEL] key is workinkg and multiple selection is allowed! Two little things! Queue window is not resizable so if you have long filenames with long paths you must resize each time the column. If you use batch file creation and have not checked “Group files from same folder into same archive” then the individual archives should be added to queue if “Always use Queue” is checked in PA Starter. This makes Batch even more flexible by allowing to prioritize / delete individual archives.

In beta4 multiple select is finally introduced making queue usable! But the queue window is too small and it cannot be resizable! So my wish is to make the queue window resizable! Another wish is to use the queue manager in Batch Archive Creation. If you use batch file creation and have not checked “Group files from same folder into same archive” then the individual archives should be added to queue if “Always use Queue” is checked in PA Starter. This makes Batch even more flexible by allowing to prioritize / delete individual archives.

:D Well that explains why it isnt saving the sizes. Maybe we can make it a feature request.

Hi, having used some other programs out there to archive my files until i discovered powerarchiver, i find myself unable to drop completely those programs because PA lacks a feature i use a lot and i need. I usually use the batch archive feature of Winrar and i have seen it has 2 very important things for me that i wish PA could do. Maybe PA can do them but i have look through the options and i can’t find a way to do it. The first thing is as simple as a checkbox to delete the files when you have completed batch archiving them. I can’t find it anywhere. The second one is the option (combined with the anterior one) to archive and delete only those files that have resulted in smaller size than the originals, so if i compress 3 pdfs individually and for some reason one of them gets bigger compressed than the original was, it should only delete the other 2 originals and keep the last pdf unarchived. Thank you, only this and i’ll be happy. (Besides the usual ranting about even more speed and features that have to come free of charge of course and global peace too :p)

I’m already using it as my primary file manager now :). It’s got some bugs but they’re quickly disappearing.

@Innuendo: I totally understand why you didn’t implement the feature. I figured that things would slow way down and it’d take nearly the same time as extracting the pictures. Having said that, though, I’d still love it as a toggle button on the main interface, though. There are a few situations I run into where I’d like to see everything in an archive in thumbnail form rather than either click on each picture in an archive to see the preview or extract everything and then view them just to delete the ones I don’t want to work with right then. I respect your design decision, though. At least it gives me something to gripe about till PA 2010 comes out because everything else about PA 2009 seems to be spot on perfect so far. thank you :). p.s. it will takes us quite an while to implement it for 2010, it is not something we can do at flick of the switch… but it is doable.

Thats why there is a standard and a pro version. If you dont want/need the CD burning etc then go with standard. Differences between editions are noted here: http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showpost.php?p=14985&postcount=1

@spwolf: we have technical issues with implementing it in those that are left, otherwise it would have been there :). Okay, thanks anyway. Cheers DrT

I hope the portable version will come with 2009. There are 2 interesting approaches i have found: first: encrypting the key so the original key is secure if you lost your usb drive (SpeedCommander) second: key is special encoded for your usb drive, if you copy to other drive or format, you have to reenter key (Roboform2Go)

Hello, everybody! I believe that these two additions to PA 2009 will be well accepted by all users: 1. CTRL + F should work in the new preview window and help search the contents of previewed text files. This is much better than decompressing / opening / and then searching within the file. It will save time! 2. It is great that PA can now burn discs, however why is it that it cannot verify what has been burnt? This is a standard function of all burning software - and it is very handy. Thank you in advance!

@TBGBe: Try multiple select with Ctrl-Key instead of Shift-Key. Yes I know, but I still like to have Range Select. But it’s a minor improvement if there will really be Patch-Updates with PA 2009 (so I don’t have to re-do the Shell settings with every update).

@ACE135: Wow. This is a great advancement of Powerarchiver. I tested the new version but it seems it doesnt work 100%. For example in the title bar are question marks instead of the asian characters. And it seems that it doesn’t work with zip files because when I open a zip file powerarchiver displays no files but in rar files it does. Will this be fixed in the final version? neither of these will - caption is not possible at all until delphi comes out with unicode support. But that is just cosmetic issue - everything works. For Zip, we need to start supporting unicode zips, which we wont for another 4-5 months now. Most importantly, it actually works now (for rar and 7zip).
