German Translation

Hi, I’m reviving this topic as there are numerous problems with the German translation in PowerArchiver 2016.
Some strings were translated literally but don’t fit the context.
Some translations are longer as the original string and get cut in the GUI.
Some strings are translated different in different places.
Some strings were amended in the English source, but not updated in the translation.
Some strings are simply not translated or even not translatable at all.
Since I’ve found the translation tool, I fixed many problems for myself and like to provide my adapted language files for other users and if you like for distributing with newer versions of PowerArchiver. They are far from perfect, since I’m fixing the problems I’m finding while working with PowerArchiver.
As I can’t attach files here, I uploaded them to a free hosting service:

I will have to update these files with latest strings versions… also official translator has done changes since back then so I will provide these files so you can use compare to see whats changed.

Ok, please send me the updated files and I will add the missing translations and try to compare the changes.
What would be the best way for future changes?
The translation looked somehow abandoned, so I decided to simply update the files and after that, that anyone who wants could use it. But having to merge the changes from different sources isn’t a good solution. -

But having to merge the changes from different sources isn’t a good solution.If you can, you can take over translation from our German partners. I once I build updated version of the files, you will see the changes. There are not many, plus in new german translation file they are already translated, so you can copy them over.
There are not too many changes per year, it is just that last year we changed translation software so some strings got moved. I will send it over early next week, thank you!

If it’s ok for you, I’ll do it. As long as I’m using PowerArchiver and I know how to do it, I’m adapting the translation to my needs anyway. But as I’m doing this in my spare time, it’ll take some time to adapt to new versions. And I’d be glad for any input on typos, glitches…

sounds good… it is actually not that many lines, considering we have updated file already. But maybe some errors can be corrected that are due to lenght of the lines, etc. In any case, we will send yo updated files this week so you can check. Thanks!

We are waiting for few more additions to the file, and PA 2017 alpha release… likely monday or tuesday you will get them both!

@spwolf I saw a few untranslated strings in PowerArchiver 2018. If you like, I’d update the German translation for PowerArchiver 2018, as I already did for PowerArchiver 2017. Simply send me the templates ;)

@bigmike thanks Mike, of course… We kept adding new strings, so didn’t want to send them over until we are finished.
