it is problem of the engine (not format), since it does not allow for no files to be added (it thinks it is an error)… rest of mwb’s explanation is correct.

i think this will be improved for PA 2008.

Yeah, I knew about the older systems compatibility regression :) but seem to remember devs or someone saying they were working on it and would bring it back. Anyways, looks like it’s scheduled for a comeback in 2008. So I’ll try not to change anything until then. ;)

No, if that was so - all files would have the same filename :eek:
Spanned archives will have filenames
xx.zip
xx.z01
xx.z02
xx.z03 etc

This is described in help file.

Well I have done some research and have found the crack and the serials that are freely available on the internet via Torrent sites.

By the way, this is on Windows XP Home SP2.

If I click on those options, the extraction dialog pops up and disappears for a split second… but other than that nothing happens.

are you sure it is not really specific? Try creating 1.txt on C:, then compressing it to 1.zip. Then move it to C:\test and click on extract here.

Yes, by default, PA uses solid compression. The results with the solid compression are usually better when having similar types of files…

It works fine in English version of PA, but also unfortunatelly DIDN’T work in any previous Internation version. It will be fixed in next update!

If the file is corrupted, then there is no way you can recover it, since it is encrypted file.

You can try installing older version, but I dont think that it would help anything.

Yes. To replicate, take one 4GB file and compress it into a multi-volume .rar archive, with the size of each volume being anywhere from 15-100MB.

Your large file can probably be smaller, say 500MB. You should still see the same effect I’m noticing.

In the meantime…if a powerful Windows Explorer replacement solution is what you’re seeking, perhaps give Total Commander a try - it is very nice and useful with plugins etc. There’s also 2 custom versions you might find called Total Commander PowerPack and Total Commander Ultima Prime. It’s probably editable in the registry.

Mozilla Firefox has an extension that allows you to edit the context menu, would be nice if there was something like this for windows.

are you sure it doesnt roll back the setup? It wont just break the screen - it should roll back all the changes it made once you click on Cancel.

Did a few more test and it seems to work now. I think the problem was that I changed the settings during a extraction. For some reason the settings weren’t saved. I want to do a few more tests, but it seems there is no problem.

Here is the answer to this orginal question in this thread:

The “unspecified potential security risk” popup message can be caused by trying to open a .ZIP file (or any “risky” file) from a “mapped” drive.

To turn this off, go to the Windows XP Control Panel, Internet Options icon within the control panel, then select the Security tab, select Local Intranet icon, click the Sites button, then uncheck the checkbox labelled “automatically detect intranet network”, then click OK, click OK again, and close the control panel. Done.

This worked perfectly for me.

Don’t work too. 7z files keep track of paths, directories and subdirectories, but once converted to sfx it don’t save it. (and please don’t ask me if I checked the save dirs info checkbox)…

Paths are working for me with 7z (converted to SFX) both with “Save Full Folder Info” active or not :confused:

that was due to the dll being in use - it should have been updated after restart.
