I do like the new website though I would like to have support tap to include in its menu the community forums. As at first I thought you got rid of them until I accidently went to bottom of support form page.
It would be nice to have a menu for approved plugins for powerarchiver. I would be willing to test them for you.

New build with new signature so shell extensions in Windows will function properly.
Thanks everyone for your assistance!
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

When I create a SFX-file from a zip (not from a 7-Zip) it happens that there is no icon for the file or a really ugly, pixelated icon.

Powerarchiver is dead no updates to fix bugs no new features, no communication and errors in program update system with scripting errors. Duplicate context menus windows 11 no fixes no updates
I declare that this is the last version.
Copied the Take Command shortcut, changed Target to be wt.exe -p “Take Command” and saved it. Right-clicked to get to properties and Explorer crashed. (wt.exe is the Microsoft Terminal program, which I have installed from the Microsoft Store.)
The Target path had changed to: C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\wt.exe -p “Take Command”
Created a new shortcut in a Start Menu folder and set the command line to the same, and it crashed the same.
Created a new shortcut and set the command line to mspaint.exe (also a Windows Store app) and Explorer crashed on right-click on the shortcut.
It appears PowerArchiver shell extensions doesn’t handle Windows Store apps in shortcuts properly. Perhaps it needs better defensive coding around checking the Target of shortcuts, or just ignoring shortcuts altogether.
Running PA 22.00.11 on Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100.6584
Was Power Archiver affected by the WinRAR/.rar vulnerability discovered by ESET researchers recently?
Not sure if PA is using their libraries for extraction.

AI Overview
Yes, that’s correct. UltimateZip was indeed a product of the same company that developed PowerArchiver, and it was essentially a rebranded version of PowerArchiver. It was discontinued and replaced by PowerArchiver.
Hi everyone, some good news about PowerArchiver… I’ve managed to get in touch with the original developer of PowerArchiver, Ivan Petrovic, and he has confirmed that the product is not dead or abandoned, in fact it is still very much alive! There has been a hiatus over the past months for various reasons, but that we should expect to see stuff coming through in the coming months (hopefully the next 2 months).
The Windows 11 context menu for PowerArchiver on normal files (to be compressed, etc.) is now showing multiple tiers with two identical menus. See attached captures of the issue:

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
OS build 26100.2605
Hello!
I’ve just created SFX-Archives both from ZIP and 7z-Archives and none has an Icon as it seems.
I use the new version 22.00.11.
[image: 1729594955632-zwischenablage_10-22-2024_01.jpg]
Basically I used powerarchiver context menus to zip up a folder then i used windows 11 own built in zip extractor via the context menu to extract all and this is where it throw up a fault. , I’m using windows 11 .
The file that was a problem in the zip that windows 11 could not extract was iva “babe” cotton.jpg
I know it has non standard quotes in it.
However I had winrar on the computer and tried the exact same method with their context menu compress to zip and then I extracted the file with windows own extract all context menu and it had no problems. This indicates that powerarchiver is doing something different with iva “babe” cotton.jpg compressing to zip.
Then I changed iva “babe” cotton.jpg to iva babe cotton.jpg and compressed it with powerarchiver and then tried it with windows 11 extract all and had no problems. It looks like powerarchiver is doing something to that one file that has quotes in it.
Please note that powerarchiver extracted both zip files with no problems, only windows built in zip extraction had the fault. Reason I’m letting people know in case they send zip files with special characters in files names to people who do not have powerarchiver.
When will a fix be implemented?
On installing the program I am getting the error message:
"Unable to execute file c:\Program Files\PowerArchiver\pashutil.exe
CreateProcess failed: code 2
The system cannot find the file specified"
This can’t be right!
I am using the latest official build of Windows 11

problem is that when you dont have temp folder, you might exract bad file and it will overwrite good file. There is no way around that.
only problem comes when you have different temp drive and destination drive. If you have everything on the same drive, it is moved over…
Sorry crunch. I’m Using Vista 32-bit here, no SP1 installed yet.
Free Commander is also 32-bit and as far as I know there is no 64-bit version of that yet.
@masu:
I tried it with 7zip, but i got the same error, that files were in use
in that case, files are indeed exclusivly locked by system and cant be compressed… since 7zip will compress files in use, if it can.
true but couldn’t there be a way that pa can inform you what version or for that matter why it can’t open it once it tells you it can’t. I mean more info like img file not img version supported please re[ort to powerarchiver technicalk support for help.
@Ihmemies:
I’m using 64-bit version of Vista Home Premium.
The zip I was extracting is 8,22GB. It has several 640MB files inside. So this is Vista’s fault, rather than PA’s, nice to know :p Altough I can’t understand why it’s doing whatever it’s doing…
there are some current kernel leaks in Vista that are not fixed in SP1. I tried one of the manual fixes and it does not solve this problem.
We are looking if we can do something differently so it does not happen.
Cancel issue will be fixed in future major update for sure (not sure if we are going to have any minor updates).
thanks
Spwolf I agree,
An example I use is to store my passwords on a USB Stick and have a clearing program to run daily on my local machines. Where I work we use biometrics with randamised encryption for user profiles so security is high not as high when I worked in the nuclear section mind!
But the rule of the thumb is dont store passwords locally, Have them encrypted elsewhere and constantly run clearing programs to clear tracks and registry strings and remember to make a long worth while password that would not be easy to guess or hack using standard password hacking programs.
But your rite! its not simple.
@sigh:
Duuuuhhhh, NO FCUKING censoredcensoredcensoredcensored. But it does NOT.
That whole registry mechanism is totally fcuked. It’s beyond hope, totally not even a consideration at this point. I don’t want help with it, I don’t even want to mention it again.
All I want to know is the powerarc.exe command line switches. If I had those the rest would be a frickin cakewalk.
you should be a lot nicer to people trying to help you deal with your issue. NTFS has correctly answered to your issue (-e).
it wont work since it is special character and shell extensions dont support unicode as of right now… hopefully for next major version we will have that last piece of the puzzle implemented…
@spwolf:
I can not reproduce this issue.
…
Now can You reproduce this issue ?
or I I have to give the more detailed data like settings in PA

@jamieewart:
well i have vista UAC turned off and i opened the files by selecting open archive, change file type to *.ppf then install it and it appears to be working.
thanks for your help guys
Actually you don’t have to disable UAC to do this. Just open the file as standard user. I don’t recommend disabling security features such as UAC at all. If some application requires disabling UAC to work properly then it’s its developers’ problem.
