Can you include .3MF to the list of re-compressible formats? Its structure is similar to MS Office 2007 documents and Open Document Format. It is a ZIP Deflate archive with XML data and some JPG, and/or PNG pictures inside. Otherwise, if I try to compress .3MF it bearly makes it smaller unless I recompress .3MF to the Store setting then it makes it a lot smaller.
Wish they all would move to 7zip ZSTD in the first place so that the optimized file size with FileOptimizer would be 50% of the ZIP Deflate version. And there would be no extra compression needed :)
I noticed that the option to add the optimize archive function to the context menu is missing on Windows 10.
Opening each archive with the interface in order to click it becomes tedious with many files.
Same for others functions like Remove Archive Encryption
"Run PA" instead of "Run Winzip"

if you open SFX archives created with Winzip, there is an topn “Run Winzip”. It would be great, if PA would be ran, if you press this button.

this is a winzip sfx file so it is written by winzip so there is no way powerarchiver can do this as they can not see winzip’s code

Actuly David, it is possible… it’s only a registry key to add. Problem is that modifing that key on systems with WinZip installed will cause trouble with WZ itself.

If that is true, presumably it would break the “Certified for Windows” if PA were to modify a non PA registry key (or create it on systems where WZ had not been installed).

its’ just as FineWolf said, just a regkey…sorry I can’t help you further, 'cause WinZip’s not installed on my system!
search in HKLM\Sofware\Classes !

Maybe its an old topic, but the solution is rather simple. Put the following key in your registry and it works like expected.
BUT, be aware that this will surley break the funcionality of winzip. And won’t get supported from the PA authors themselve.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\winzip\shell\open\command]
@="“C:\Programme\PowerArchiver\POWERARC.EXE” “%1"”AddOn: rename the attachment to *.reg and edit the path to your POWERARC.EXE in it, and then let it merge into the registry.

You can do this at home on your own computer, but this would be illigal to do it on every PA installation.
-
It was not intended to use this on every installation. I`m aware that this would lead to legal or other problems.
I simply wanted to show, how users that want that functionality can realise it.
-
this should be taken off the forum incase winzip complains.

Isn
t this a little overreacted ? I mean I
m from Germany and you may have other laws. But alteration of a user`s registry is nothing winzip can possibly complain about. And if they do sometime in the future, you can remove this topic then.
It is not that much requested feature anyway, so the 3 or 4 users won`t do much harm.
