Suggestion to improve .pa format
-
How about recognising a few more (or all) of the file formats that are basically renamed zip files and treating them is if they are zip files.
For instance Android .apk files are just renamed .zip files.
Libreoffice/Openoffice ODF documents are all, as far as I am aware, just renamed .zip files. (.odt, .ott, .ods, .ots, .odp, .otp, .odb, .odf etc.) -
nice suggestion @Brian-Gregory, especially the APK format. Gonna log these in, thanks!

@Brian-Gregory did you try compress to .PA with Ultra settings? It should support all of these formats for recompression actually.
It is a bit slow, so it works under Ultra.
thanks!

I thought I was using Ultra.
But APK doesn’t seem to be treated like a ZIP.
I am right clicking a folder and choosing Compress to folder.pa.
The compression profile for .pa is set for Ultra, Optimise strong.
I have ‘Use normal relative path’ disabled.Later: I think it’s just .APK that isn’t treated as a .ZIP file.

Still the same in 20.00.57.
apk files still just compressed with rep1 plzma4.
Should be treated like a zip file. -
hey @Brian-Gregory
i see that the icon isn’t showing. when you right click the .apk, does it show extract options? -

@Mili Yes PA extracts APK files fine. It’s just when you put them inside a .PA file is misses out on the chance to compress them better like it can with ZIP files.

thanks for the clarification @Brian-Gregory
We are logging this in. -
Not yet fixed in PA 20.00.58.
(APK files inside PA files still not compressed very effectively)
