StuffIt (.sit)
-
Actually, is licensing needed to develop and release a program which can extract proprietary format like ACE, RAR and SIT?
-
StuffIt offers a SDK for software developers, so it should be possible to integrate SIT: http://www.stuffit.com/win/sdk/index.html

Any news about the .sit (de)compression feature?
This is very important to share encrypted files with MAC users since Zip AES encryption is not handled by MAC OS nor programs like Stuff-it in MAC!

Hi, sorry to bump it but, no news/reply?

it is not an free, i would suspect it is pretty expensive per license product.
Currently there is no way we can do it, since we are an US company, we can be sued for copyright/trademark/whatever.
It is a bit easier for European companies since their laws are vague on the subject.

at least SIT extraction would be very useful
-
UnStuff can at least be implemented. On their sdk page there is a form, perhaps someone should contact them and see how much it will cost for commericial endevours.
Cheers

whether or not its free your right it should be implimented.
its in stuffit’s interest to have as many archivers working on there sit format even if it is only decompression.

it is not free, and i doubt it can be implemented at all, even at huge financial cost.
so we will not implement it, until it is freely available.

Having .sit installed in power archiver is a great thing but if there are still issues about the license, I wish that it is possible in the near future.
