@James-Simms we are working on separate tool for SFX, that enables our new format and all the features associated with it (superior compression, security). It is going to take a bit more but it is being worked on. Thanks!

@spwolf said in PACL for Linux: i guess we will have to make linux version when PAF is out… I thought I’d revive somebody else’s thread :) I already heard from Drazen that we’re not quite ready with a Linux PACL yet, but it probably bears repeating that there’s interest in that, still; Now that .pa is ‘in the wild’, so to speak, timetables are narrowing for compatibility with other OS’s.

Not sure I remember such an update this time. But that makes sense. Thanks, Luxor.

There are several requests I have offered several times. Perhaps there are technical reasons why you cannot do any of these. But let me offer them again. They all concern AC: I standardly get 2-3 acknowledgments of an AC download. Perhaps some of that is caused because some people have their email forwarded from one server to another . . . so the download notification gets keyed by each server. could you please note that the time you are using for download time – so that users will know that the time listed is 5-8 hours off that of US users? could you give users a way (a) to delete all AC filenames, and (b) to show us which files are still active for download? Actually, I would prefer that AC delete file names once their download date has passed. This would make AC more attractive (unless, for cost reasons, you would prefer not to make it more attractive – which I would regret, but understand).

interface on the phone can be HTML5, yes… however it has nothing to do with Windows/Mac/Linux… but most importantly - actual engines running everything need to be ported to every platform. Which is too gigantic task for us right now… but maybe in the future, who knows.

It would be nice if we could call upon cloud backup options via command line.

I have been asking myself the same question. I wanted to find out more about the zip processes. It seems that my knowledge of this is quite limited and it pains me to learn about that. Thank God, there’s always the web to take advantage of, and of course the forum to aid us. I am hoping we could have great replies from this. Cheers Julie here Credit repair guru!

Hi! @spwolf: probably easier/smarter/better to add SFX support to pacl ;-) I’ve tested this in PACL 6.02 but it looks like support for SFX isn’t implemented yet. Do you have any plans for implementing this in PACL and if so, when can we expect to have support for SFX in PACL? Kind Regards Micke

@spwolf: there were no major updates to PACL… Once we do 5.0, it will have unlimited zip support… good :D

Yes, debian-based package files. Wow, I’d forgotten .deb even had that history.

@danmccon: But for users who do not have 32-bit support enabled on their systems, is this something that would be possible in the future, or is it considered a requirement to have the 32-bit environment enabled as well? Some of our customers have disabled the 32 bit support, as it does improve performance to run in all one mode, instead of having to run the compatibility mode as well. you mean disable 32bit applications from running completly? It would not work. And right now it would not be possible to have completly 64bit version of PowerArchiver which would be required in that case. We can not even try to do so, as programming language we use does not have 64bit version and then even if that hurdle is crossed, most libraries that we use dont have native 64bit version. Honestly, I did not even know that you could disable 32bit support in 64bit Windows, as virtualization is mostly done by CPU and not by Windows itself (at least from my limited understanding).

It would be nice if you could Display / Create and Edit Info-Zip style Unix permissions information. At least File Properties should show them. Oops! Wrong forum…

@jc_ryman: No. I am talking about PowerArchiver v10.20.02 … Ah… Wrong Forum then :p For your comfort - try enabling Advanced Add Window under Configuration / Miscellaneous. Now you have a check for Store Folder and under Options you can include sub-folders.

PACOMP.EXE is improperly setting the file dates on compressed files inside the zip to the current date/time. Is there anyway to prevent that?
