ZIP archive damaged
-
Hi, I have a real problem. I had to reinstall my Windows and have my own files in ZIP archive packed.
After installation, I wanted to decompress the file back. I got an error message that a file can not entpacktwerden and the operation was aborted.
I have Try this file from the archives to delete but it did not work the file was still available. When you try all the files except this one hung to expand the program.
Then I thought I times change the name of that file, but only received an error message and click on the OK was the only 1KB file size.
My own gestamten files were due to a bescheuerten file is not deleted entpackenließ. Is there a possibility this error can be undone or so what?
What really help! Regards, Eggerd

have you tried REPAIR ZIP command? of course, make a copy of archive before applying it. it should copy to repaired archive files that can be successfully decompressed
not a 100% solution, but at least “guaranteed minimum”

Where can I find the option to repair it? I have searched but found nothing.
Thanks ever for the answer!

i’ve created zip archive and then found this command in menus. may be it’s a drawback of PA which doesn’t show it outside of zip archives
actually i’m not a GUI user :) my first thought was to recommend something like old pkzipfix utility :)

where exactly is the command to fix … 've already other programs sought to repair but they are so complicated
-
with ribbon interface it’s in menu Tools, submenu Tools, last command
-
bulat - there is no “ribbon interface” in PACL :p

Is the “bescheuerten file” the actual Zip archive or is it one file within the archive?
Note: Repair option in PACL is PAFIX.
Spwolf : PAFIX not mentioned in Manual.txt - do you need a seprate error post for this??

So … a quick aside: I’m German and this is only translated text!
But back to the topic^^ Well, I have found the option to repair but run always comes only “Error fixing archive” …
What should I do now?Apologies the bad English!!!

Apologies the bad English!!!
That’s OK. I have the same problem in German :D
Check the size of the damaged Zip file.
If it is only 1KB as you originally reported (when trying to change the name) then the archive cannot be fixed - I’m sorry but you have lost the data.
If it is large enough to contain the data then you could try different repair utilities - e.g. 7-zip, WinZip etc.
but I doubt they will work either. This is one reason it is recommended to have more than one backup - and to test them after creating.
