I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

Dear users,
with .pa format and PA 2017, we are looking to reward you for reporting issues with PowerArchiver. In past few years we have been occasionally giving free licenses for active forum users (I believe first time in 2013 and now with PA 2017) but now we decided to formalize it.
What gets you PowerArchiver license and/or PowerArchiver Select extension
-
Any kind of crash with .pa format that has not been reported before will be automatically awarded free license of PowerArchiver 2017 for the reporter.
-
Any other bug will be looked at depending on how serious it is and if it has been reported before. In general, users with 20-30 posts and 5-10 bug reports should be able to win PA select extension or free license.
Old Users
- If you already have 20-30 posts and have reported 5-10 bugs prior to this post, but have not gotten invitation for alpha testing which comes with free PA 2017 Toolbox license or extension of your current one, please let us know! Our email might have ended up in your spam folder, please let us know.
New Users
- This reward policy for PowerArchiver 2017 is valid for all of our users, no matter what kind of license they have or don’t have. Reports sent via support system, email, chat and forums will be all counted towards your free license and PowerArchiver Select maintenance.
Questions
Let us know if you have any questions about our reward policies. If you believe you should have gotten free license already, let us know here or via web chat or via support form. -

@spwolf @Alpha-Testers All alpha testers got theirs already, and let us know if you dont have it lasting for at least 2 more years. Thank you!
-
@spwolf :( looks like I will have to buy myself some licenses then as I don’t have the time as much as I used to but I will certainly try my best.
I do think that we could do with a more formal means where Alpha & Management Users are able to go and complete pre-template forms either PDF Auto Form or Web Form, similar to Bugzilla.
Forums are great for sharing ideas, knowledge base etc but for proper bug reporting, searching it can be tricky. We can still use forums for wishlists, previews, download links , videos etc

Richard you already have a lifetime select :)
As to the forums, it is important for us to be able to reproduce the issue, so the team prefers working this way where our team verifies each issue and then engineers can get help from our test team to reproduce it directly. Otherwise there would be too much time lost. Sometimes we get few lines from users on forums or via support system, and then @mili makes videos, screenshots, provides files and first hand experience during same work hours as our engineers.
Of course, people can just email our support ticketing system but doing it in forums means that other people can help with reproduction, there is peer review and if there is some issue that more people are experiencing, it also makes us work on it as priority.
Thanks!

@spwolf was pulling your leg mate :)
I’m happy the way things are and where I feel you need more detail, I will continue to email you direct with photos and step by step details :D

@RJWaring i know you are well versed in the inner workings :-)

@IkarusOfGreece please report these separately into bug report forums, it is very important so other users with similar problems can find solution in the future. Thank you!

@spwolf
Hello,
I’m confused by all the option I have…
Which one is the right forum to post bugs found in PA 2017?
.

@IkarusOfGreece PA 2017: Tech Support… each bug separate thread please. Thanks a lot, we appreciate your input!
