PACL 8.0.
What new features do you guys want from it?
Current list for 8.0
- RAR 5.x support.
- Latest ZIP/ZIPX engine with even better performance.
- Updated rest of engines with latest support for all file formats.
Possibly:
- New PAF format testing.
Other things like better logs or what else do we need?

This is about as far off topic as I can type with a straight face, but: can it support Linux? (I’m exasperated by file-roller and p7zip; they take forever) :biggrin:

we made linux version of PACL before, never released it though… so yes… probably in time for PAF? then it will be important to release.

1. Please have the fix for case# 32854 put into this release.
2. Hardware acceleration using any available GPU that supports OpenCL.
3. Create a 64bit zip engine. -
4. Error Reporting for Attended & Unattended Operations
CLI reports errors either to the standard Windows Event Log, or through SNMP (Simplified Network Message Protocol) integration with leading data center management applications -
Without repeating what has already been submitted (requests I concur with), I have the following:
For PACOMP, add the ability to add EFS encrypted files to archive as RAW. Similar to how the /EFSRAW switch works for ROBOCOPY. I want to be able to add EFS files to archives without them being decrypted first.
For PACRYPT, add FIPS 140-2 compliant encryption option.
Provide more detailed documentation. For example, provide thorough examples of the syntax that is required in exclude/include files.
That’s all I have.

If we are talking about a Linux version of PACL I don’t see why you have to do a GUI version since PACL don’t have any GUI

I would like to have improvements of the -v option in PAEXT.

not yet, not that soon - we decided to add some new format/s to next gen PA, and PACL will have to wait until that work is done (so we can incorporate it into PACL)

debug phase for next PA… one major feature that is going to come to PACL from PA will be PAE2 as well as new codecs in ZIP/X format… of course, all other engines will be updated to latest PA, including RAR.
