Dragging files onto archive
-
it is interesting question though… should try attempt to remove any HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver that there is?
You can literally have 50 users on the computer and of course, installation is unaware of you running PA later on. PA will automatically write down settings to HKCU after it is run from new account.
Also this made me make reminder about testing if this new all user setting is actually removed during installation as well :-).
thanks for being our customer of course!

Well, in that case, glad I could help! :)

Please try this, uninstall and reinstall PowerArchiver RC5.
Do not manually delete any reg keys. Reinstall and try again.
Does that help w/UAC? -
I already did that, trying to install from both my local account (which required elevation to admin of course as any installation does), and also directly from the admin account. I never manually removed registry keys as I don’t know yet what I would need to remove. I have since uninstalled it and gone back to 11.71, but I can try again.
EDIT: Just tried again. I overwrote the 11.71 installation first, then tried uninstalling, rebooting, then reinstalling. No good. I’m sure this has nothing to do with the situation, but I remembered I turned off Windows compressed zip support when I first installed Win 7- standard practice for me because I don’t want to see zip files show up as folders in a folder tree.

Could any of my issues have anything to do with disabling the Windows built-in zip folder support? I always do that on Windows installations because I don’t like them showing up as folders in Explorer. Then again, I expect a lot of people do this as well, and as far as I know I am the only one so far with the PA issues I’m having.

i doubt it, i will check with the dev team after we release pa 2011 on what could be the issue in the system…

The installation of PA seems to automatically disable the inbuilt ZIP function in Win 7. I also do not like it but have never had to uninstall/disable it in either 32 or 64 bit 7. Done it is XP so many times I know the command by heart :).

it doesnt do anything to built-in zip, it disables itself once it doesnt have association to zip.
but that has nothing to do with drag and drop.

That is what I was trying to say to the OP who posed that question.

ok, but still let it be said that we dont actually disable anything… Windows removes it itself once associations go to some other program… not our fault :-)
