Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi everyone, some good news about PowerArchiver… I’ve managed to get in touch with the original developer of PowerArchiver, Ivan Petrovic, and he has confirmed that the product is not dead or abandoned, in fact it is still very much alive! There has been a hiatus over the past months for various reasons, but that we should expect to see stuff coming through in the coming months (hopefully the next 2 months).
New version:
PowerArchiver 2023 - 22.00.10:
Download:
https://u.powerarchiver.com/pa2023/powarc220010.exe
New build for some bug fixes and issues - full list to come with new update. Please test and see if you have any issues.
Thanks everyone for your assistance!
I had a large .tar file (a backed up WSL) and I want to delete a few directories and their contents from it using PA2023.
PA just destroys the whole archive as soon as I try to delete a directory, leaving it in a state where PA2023 won’t even open it any more.
I tried several times and also tried compressing it to .tar.xz instead - same result.
This should either actually work, or it should say operation not supported and do nothing.
Hello!
The regular version of PA 2023 is out for over 6 months now, but there is still no sign of the portable release.
(When) will there be one?
Thanks!
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
Win 11 64 bit
I have some archives which have been encrypted, using the encrypt option either in pbs or when interactively creating a zip. When I open these, and look at files, I am asked for passwords, which I know, and then can view items or decrypt the files in the archive (tools>decrypt files).
However, when I use the Actions>Remove Archive Encryption (whether using the same zip or asking to write another), the routine shows progress bar to the end, but then just hangs i.e. “OK” never activates. All process information shows this stalled/hanging.
What can I do to sort this out?
For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Paop

I tried using PAOP this morning; I changed a setting: I indicated that I wanted it to add the help file.
I did a test run twice. No help file.
I tried it sending the message plain and rich text. Didn’t help.
Now perhaps mail has to be html for the feature to work.
If so, think you might add a text option as well?
I was also hoping to be able to edit the text (html or text).
-
which version of paop are you using?
-
2.03
-
I tried to edit the last reply to add another “.03”
Wouldn’t take. Or else I don’t know how to edit them.
-
just tried it, checked off to send help file
attached a sample file to my email and sent it, received the help file with.Give it a try with this beta version of PAOP http://www.powerarchiver.com/test/alpha115/paop210b.exe
-
Just tried it.
Still no luck.
Not even if I set the message to html
Is there a chance that the file it wants to insert is missing?
If so, could you resend it, and tell me in which folder I should place it.
For the record. I use EZDetach, which automatically detaches attachments, saves them to my hard drive, and then creates a link to them within the email (keeps the PST file smaller).
I suppose that might be the culprit, but I don’t see how. It only messes with attachments and I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that the help file was actually inserted at the end of the message.
Moreover, I have never before had a problem receiving an email, not even one with ten attachments.
Still, since it might be implicated, I thought I should mention it.
-
If you disable EZDetach, does it work ok then?
-
First, I really don’t see any reason to think it is that since I often get multiple attachments.
Second, I cannot just turn it off. And I would lose far too many settings to uninstall it.
Sorry.
-
It attaches the html help file to the message… maybe EZDetach does influence it. We will try on our end to see how it works with EZDetach.
Only other option (in the future) would be to add text to the message body, but that could be messier and we cant explain as well…
-
I am fairly sure it is not ezdetach. It only works on incoming files.
I am guessing the help file may be missing.
Could you either send it to me, of just give me the name of the file called by that option, then I can create my own.
-
Help file can not be missing, it is built inside the program.
Maybe it is some combination of settings?
What version of Windows and Office are you using?
thanks
-
Windows 7 enterprise
Office 2007 -
PAOP settings are located here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PAOutlookCan you go to regedit.exe, to that key, export it, zip it and email it to support? Then Mili will try if it works with same settings on our own test computers.
Does the actual compression work? ( PAOP actually compressing attachments?)
-
I just saw the second half of your request.
It compressed the files just fine. Well, that’s now quite right. It compresses PDF files just fine; balks a bit at docx files.
-
There is an filter setting which by default doesnt compress docx (as docx are zip files so they cant be compressed futher).
-
(it is exclude extensions button in PAOP)
-
Received the reg file, thanks for that.
tested with sent reg settings and received the help file just fine using Paop.
Have you installed and tried using the beta version provided earlier?
the help file is simply attached to the email, when acitavated, when PAOP is used.
If you think it could possible make a difference, try disabling EZDetach and see if it works then, just for testing purposes. -
I am using the latest PAOP beta you send (perhaps 2.1?).
As I explained, there is no way to disable EZDetach and I cannot afford to uninstall it and lose all the scripts I have written for it.
But (I now realize) I really shouldn’t have mentioned this. It’s a red herring. It only affects incoming files, and I later saw that the attachment wasn’t there in the outgoing file.
I will just do without.
Sorry for the hassle.
Hugh

sorry hugh, i guess it is always easier to blame something else :-)

One thing we like is for users to mention things, even if it becomes a dead link! because it might just spark a future feature or solution, not to mention something who may experience similar issues can read this and get the answer they may need.
-
I ended up uninstalling PAOP.
I discovered something that may be worrisome.
I use Office 2007. When PAOP was installed, Outlook would lock up (“Not responding”) 2-3 times a day. It never occurred to me that PAOP was the culprit.
However, it has not happened once since I deleted PAOP.
I may just be lucky. Or perhaps PAOP does have some untoward side effects on Outlook 2007.
Sorry.
-
it could be combination of plugins… PAOP has been used for years now, never got that complaint.
what other plugins do you use (other than ezdetach)? We will try to install them on our Win7 with Office 2007 and see what happens.
