if you try and convert an archive

basically if you specify a path to a folder that does not exist then it does not create a new folder you have to create the folder first. wouldn’t it be easier to ask if you wanted to create the folder instead of the time consuming method of having to create one manually

Did you select Custom in the Destination Folder menu?

i should of mentioned that i wqas using the convert tool from the menu.

Basically i open up the convert menu and specify a folder for the converted archive to go to and as the folder does niot exist it sayes so what it used to do was ask if you wanted to dreate the folder before the conversion took place.

Now it seems you need to create the folder before you start this perocess

I tested all options under the convert option and all worked fine.

basically i’m asking pa to do the folder creating via the path setting i write the path out to a folder that does not exist on my pc and i want it tio create that and put the converted archive in it. I do not wnat to play around created the folder myself i wnat it to ask me do you wnat to create the folder with this file in it and to say yes or no.

seems to me all you guys are putting a converted archive in a folder thats already on your pc or are using the new folder button on the archive i have not used any of that i have just specified in the path the folder that does not exist on my pc and i want pa to craete that foleder using the path details

I did it exactly the way you described David…tested it several times and couldn’t replicate your problem.

I have also just typed in a name of the folder that does not exist and that folder was created.

Works fine (new folder/new subfolder) for me; both in GUI and via shell.
However, I only have one drive to test with so let me ask; is your problem with new folder on same drive as PA or on a second disk / network drive?

I tested that scenario on a second drive Terry and it too worked fine for me.

could it be a permissions issue as i only used windows 2000 and had an update from microsoft for securitry recenly

in anycase shouldn’t it ask you for permission by a dialog box if it can or would you like it to create a new folder. my computer has several delphi programs that i have scince found conflict with each other.
