Vista 5600 (RC1)

OK, I’ve just installed the ‘vista ready’ 9.63 powerarchiver which does not work so I then uninstalled it but vista now does not know how to open standard zip files. Any ideas on getting that working?

right click on any file and select Send to> Compressed folder. I think thats what it is called.
Windows will then ask you if you want to re-associate with Compressed Folders.

I’m afraid that did not work any other ideas?

did it actually ask you for the re-association? It just didnt work? Or?

Sorry should have made that clearer. I Right Clicked and sent a file to a compressed folder. The zip was created succesfully but I was not prompted about the association. Attempting to open the file prompts for you to choose a program to associate but it’s the os i’m trying to reassociate. Is there a version on the horizon that works with rc1?

Maybe I can create an .reg file for you to re-associate.
As to the Vista, YES, soon, I hope.
thanks,

Just choose Windows ‘explorer.exe’ as the program in ‘file association’ and check 'always use this program.

Why does PA 2004 work but PA 2006 doesn’t?
Suppose its a bit like Nero in that way Nero 6.6.0.6 worked but the new 7 one didn’t.
Ok yes power archiver 2004 works fully on windows vista, you can download it here:
http://download.oldversion.com/powarc926.exe
Yes its a retail copy, no it does not have keygen, you can use trial. May be a slow download tho.

They use a component that doesnt work in Vista yet. They are waiting for a new version.

I’m a registered user of PA 2006 is there any way i can get hold of a key for PA 2004 as I am now using it on Vista RC1?

email us at support so we can give you reg number as well OR if you purchased PA 2004 or before, you can login to your account and you will still be able to get PA 2004 from there.
thanks,
