Solved PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
-
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files. -
So far my testing shows that this seems to all be fixed in the new PA 22.00.09 from your main site.

Yeah, thank you. @Mili will test with latest internal release and let you know.

Hey Brian,
Thanks for the details! I’ve tested and confirmed that the UAC and error reporting occurs when testing from the main PowerArchiver interface, when testing through shell it seems fine.
Logged in for fixing, many thanks again!

Testing with the shell with 22.00.08 is a disaster.
All the files get extracted to the current directory as if you had chosen extract here.
Took me ages to clean up the mess, work out what was supposed to be where. -
@brian-gregory I’m seeing this with .pa test from Shell on 22.00.06. The archive tests OK, but every file in it has been extracted to the same folder as the archive.
There seems to be no way from any settings or configuration to change this.

hey @brian-gregory,
I’ve attempted to reproduce this with a sample archive but did not get the extraction of files to folder. Tried testing via shell and main PA.
Does it happen to all archives or certain ones?
Could you please send a sample archive where you can reproduce to me at support at conexware dot com and I will take a look to reproduce it. Certainly would like to fix it for the next update.
Thanks for your help!

Example Archive linked here
My PA settings linked hereRight-click the PA file and choose “PowerArchiver” then on sub menu choose “Test”.
The PA archive gets extracted to the directory containing it.
I am running PA 22.00.08 on Windows 7 64 bit. -

I see now, it occurs when testing 7z and PA archives via shell.
Logged in and Ivan should fix it for the future update.thanks for your continued help!
