Unsolved Problems with registry restrictions on PA 2021 and sending reg codes
-
Hi,
I thought, I’ll give it a try and upgrade my PA 2018 Toolbox on my production machine to PA 2021 (20.10.03)
- Sending registration codes in your order recovery doesn’t seem to work at the moment (I also checked my junk folder), online activation works
- Using registry to disable modules (for example HKLM\SOFTWARE\PowerArchiverInt\General\DisableBurning) doesn’t work as expected with modern ui. The module is visible, but I’ll get the trial nag, if I try to open it. It’s almost fine in classic and ribbon mode.
“DisableClouds” and “DisableExplorer” seem not to be respected at all, while the classic UI seems to respect the setting to disable any other unused module:
- In settings I won’t be able to access the SmartAI settings and the settings for the internal editor if the FTP module is disabled
-
-
I just tried again to resend the registration code and it worked this time.
So now, one problem is solved. But there’s still the issue, that disabling access to some gui elements will lead to unexpected behavior as showing the nag screens.
-
how does it work with ribbon and classic interfaces?
-
@spwolf in Ribbon mode it looks like in classic mode:
Too much buttons in the status bar, the trial screen will appear, if I try to access the preferences for the new internal viewer.

@BigMike are you testing PA22? Next build should have this solved.
-
@spwolf Where can I get PA 2022 to test? And information about the changes?
I don’t see a new corresponding section in “Alpha Testing / Latest Version”.
And actually I would prefer a fix in the stable version, when PA 2022 is in such an early phase, that there aren’t even links in the “Alpha Testing” section. -
@bigmike PA2022 just mysteriously appeared on the download page on the main site https://www.powerarchiver.com/download-powerarchiver/
But there’s no way I’m testing it without some kind of announcement saying what’s supposed to be different.
Something is clearly very different since the download is much bigger than the PA2021 download. -

@spwolf The restriction of toolbar buttons seems to work with PA2022 21.0.10.0, but the nag still appears, when I’m trying to enter the settings dialog for the internal viewer:
There are new buttons for “Recent files” and “Encryption”. Are there also registry keys to disable them? I can’t find any in the wiki.

I’m still getting the nag screen in the options dialog, when clicking on SmartAI or internal Editor with version 21.00.13.
Are there any changelogs available for PowerArchiver 2022 preview releases?
