I would have a solution to this :) I have created 2 registry files with which settings can be reset to “default”, I do not know if I am allowed to share files here? I also assume no liability for damages of any kind :) Even if the script should be “Safe”! If I am given permission, I can upload the file to my google Drive and share here. Is this allowed in this forum? I have also written a “read me” txt file with instructions, to use :)

With the script you can

1. set only the “compression profiles” to default
2. set all settings to default

It’s pretty simple, but effective and it should be followed the instructions in the “Readme”!
Otherwise there is the possibility that it does not work!

Therefore I ask if I may share these files here? they are 100% self-written! :)

What you can do is click on Options>Set Defaults.
That will revert PowerArchiver to installation settings and set the Compression Profiles to default. However, it delete all of your manually created compression profiles and reset all other PowerArchiver settings to installation default.

I guess posting the two reg files would work as they could help someone in need. They would have to contain only the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PowerArchiverInt\Profiles] key information and none other, as it could conflict with other settings, including registration.
You can send them to me in a private message, we will check them out just to be safe and then can then post them. Thanks for your help!

Can you help me with more info on customizing that registry key’s values.

I would like to change the default “PA Default”'s values, so I do not have to tick extra options that I have to do everytime, and I can use the shell extension’s shortcut to create archive, saving my time.

Absolutely, which ones are you looking to edit?
I will ask the devs today where they are located.

But I thought to modify the values, you can simply go to “Settings -> Compression Profiles”.
To modify the default options for PA modify “ShellExt: PA Default”.

No need to mess with the Registry?
Isn’t it the case?

Correct, the main compression profile section in Configuration allows for editing the default compression options.
I am assuming that @godlydevils would like to edit some of the additional options available for the PA format.

I have checked and the additional options for the PA profile are located in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PowerArchiverInt\Profiles
As you’ll see there are tons of values there without an easy way to detect which is which.
We also discussed additional options being saved in a custom compression profile, so that you will be able to save the additional options along with the default ones. That may help a bit.

Also, let me know which options you would like changed and I will also check if I can detect which values those are by comparing the changed values, in Beyond Compare or similar software.

Hi Mili,

I wish to completely customize the default PA profile.

so whenever I start archive from shell, i do not have to go to advanced options and customize the plzma(size and entropy model), zstandard(levels & size), ppmd_sh(sizes) options.

not having to select zlib level, dictonary size, method optimize strong, compression level extreme.

there are various options that I would like to modify for the “PA Default” profile so I do not have to create any new profile.
