Cheers!
You can maybe answer a question that has been bugging me.
When I open a new tab should there or should there not be something in the left pane of the main window?
If there was something there it would make finding an archive easier than having to go to Open archive in the toolbar then searching your HD for it.

if you have hdd browsing, it should be filled with treeview of your hdd?
But good idea about something there if user is not using/browsing hdd? Maybe MRU archives? Or output from favorite archives window? @Alpha-Testers - i know @Brian-Gregory is using classic with folders, maybe he can give some input?

That’s what it’s like as in the last screenshot in first post. But as soon as I click on a new tab, then it’s as in the first screenshot. As you can see a totally empty window.

yes, that tab shows its own folder panel… so whatever is in the tab, it shows there.
since tab is empty with no archive open, then it shows empty folder panel currently.
this is why I have suggested that maybe we can show MRU or favorites there, that allows you to even more easily click on recent archives

How will this work with your proposal here?
- 1st tab on opening with no arguments: Files and folders/folder pane shows “My PC”
- 1st tab on opening with archive: Archive content/folder pane shows archive folder structure
- opening an archive will open a new tab, folder pane shows archive folder structure
- opening a new tab by (+) will show MRU list/Favorites?
On the first guess, I would vote for “Favorites” to fill the empty pane :-)
Probably, that will make it pretty confusing for the standard user…
But the pane should never be empty. That is confusing, too.
Maybe restricting browsing “My PC” to explorer mode and using folder pane in archive mode consequently for Favorites/MRU and for archive folder structures, in case an archive is open, is smarter. -

So i dont think it will be too crazy for pro users… and it is useful for sure.
