For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
Cannot delete file from ZIP archive
-
I recently sent you an e-mail with attached ZIP regarding a problem with PA not allowing files to be deleted from it. I haven’t received a response hence my message here.
I’m pretty sure it is a problem with the DynaZip library since another app that uses it had the same problem.
Any news on when it will be fixed.
WinZip (and most other archivers) had no problems deleting files from it.
-
we can not receive zip file, you can attach it on the forums…
thanks
-
I originally sent it to general@conexware.com.
Here it is again
When you try to delete a file it says “Error in ZIP structure. Continue?” and the file is not deleted.
However , when you test the ZIP archive PA says there are no errors in the ZIP structure.
Please can you fix it because most other archivers can delete files from this archive with no problem.
As mentioned before, I’m pretty sure it’s an error with the DynaZip library because another app which uses DynaZip has the same problem.

The proble is not the achive but the names of the files inside the archive i renamed the files then i tried delteing them with powerarchiver and it worked. the problemn is either the extension or the file names themselves. this problem was thought to be cured with powerarchiver but unfortuanately you’ve proved differently thanks.
When will a fix for this come about?
I have tested the file for errors using a more powerafull chaecking program, no errors in archive but file names a problem in powerarchiver or any with a similar coding.
-
DynaZip shows an error in archive, which is why it can not work properly with the archive. It has nothing to do with specific filename or any specific PowerArchiver issue.
I will send it to Ivan so he can check it out, after he comes back from vacation…
thanks,
-
You might want to send the ZIP archive to the DynaZip people so they can make a fix.
Then it’s simply a matter of re-compiling with the latest version of DynaZip.
-
why is it that renaming the file enables deletring of the file
-
why is it that renaming the file enables deletring of the file
Most likely because then proper information gets stored into local and central zip headers, unlike now. We will check if it is Dynazip/PowerArchiver or ZIP error, so far finger is being pointed to the zip file with wrong header info.
thanks,
-
I think it might have something to do with both ‘/’ and ‘’ chars being used as the path separator in the zip. As spwolf says, renaming will correct this in the local and central zip headers allowing it to be deleted.
Just about all other archivers I’ve used allow you to delete files from the archive. Also, it seems odd that some operations in DynaZip support both ‘’ and ‘/’ but other operations don’t.
I would like to see this problem fixed, with transparent handling of both ‘’ and ‘/’ for all operations.
-
The problem is with different name in central and local archive header, so our ZIP engine won’t delete it or extract single file.
The renaming file is just one workaround - the renaming file inside ZIP archives is our oun engine (DynaZip has nothing to do with this), so we cannot know the problem with ZIP delete/extract engine.
We will contact DynaZip support to get their answer about this issue.

Hi Ivan/spwolf,
Any news from DynaZip on this problem and whether they will update their library to handle it ? (I hope they will!)
As mentioned in my previous posts WinZip and some other ZIP archive utilities can handle this file, so while the file may not adhere to the ZIP standard, I would still very much like to see PA handle it (which means the DynaZip library being updated)

We shall see, we are still compiling list of things for them, however they are usually not to keen to support things that outside of standards and any update they do has to be verified by MS team so do not expect anything soon.
thanks,
