Hi everyone, some good news about PowerArchiver… I’ve managed to get in touch with the original developer of PowerArchiver, Ivan Petrovic, and he has confirmed that the product is not dead or abandoned, in fact it is still very much alive! There has been a hiatus over the past months for various reasons, but that we should expect to see stuff coming through in the coming months (hopefully the next 2 months).
The Windows 11 context menu for PowerArchiver on normal files (to be compressed, etc.) is now showing multiple tiers with two identical menus. See attached captures of the issue:

I’ve just created SFX-Archives both from ZIP and 7z-Archives and none has an Icon as it seems.
I use the new version 22.00.11.

Basically I used powerarchiver context menus to zip up a folder then i used windows 11 own built in zip extractor via the context menu to extract all and this is where it throw up a fault. , I’m using windows 11 .
The file that was a problem in the zip that windows 11 could not extract was iva “babe” cotton.jpg
I know it has non standard quotes in it.
However I had winrar on the computer and tried the exact same method with their context menu compress to zip and then I extracted the file with windows own extract all context menu and it had no problems. This indicates that powerarchiver is doing something different with iva “babe” cotton.jpg compressing to zip.
Then I changed iva “babe” cotton.jpg to iva babe cotton.jpg and compressed it with powerarchiver and then tried it with windows 11 extract all and had no problems. It looks like powerarchiver is doing something to that one file that has quotes in it.
Please note that powerarchiver extracted both zip files with no problems, only windows built in zip extraction had the fault. Reason I’m letting people know in case they send zip files with special characters in files names to people who do not have powerarchiver.
When will a fix be implemented?
On installing the program I am getting the error message:
"Unable to execute file c:\Program Files\PowerArchiver\pashutil.exe
CreateProcess failed: code 2
The system cannot find the file specified"
This can’t be right!
I am using the latest official build of Windows 11

Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

I had a large .tar file (a backed up WSL) and I want to delete a few directories and their contents from it using PA2023.
PA just destroys the whole archive as soon as I try to delete a directory, leaving it in a state where PA2023 won’t even open it any more.
I tried several times and also tried compressing it to .tar.xz instead - same result.
This should either actually work, or it should say operation not supported and do nothing.

I have some archives which have been encrypted, using the encrypt option either in pbs or when interactively creating a zip. When I open these, and look at files, I am asked for passwords, which I know, and then can view items or decrypt the files in the archive (tools>decrypt files).
However, when I use the Actions>Remove Archive Encryption (whether using the same zip or asking to write another), the routine shows progress bar to the end, but then just hangs i.e. “OK” never activates. All process information shows this stalled/hanging.
What can I do to sort this out?
For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.

The cloud thing in PA has NEVER made any sense to me.
It either isn’t finished or it’s the most totally unintuitive, baffling even, thing I’ve ever seen.
I just press New and it chooses DropBox for me with no way to change it!! But I no longer use DropBox, only Google Drive. -

I’m getting really bizarre results with PA 20.00.53 extracting this rar file by drag and drop into the root of a USB flash drive (using extract here).
The directory structure is really weirdly mangled. -

@Brian-Gregory I can successfully connect to OneDrive in Windows XP. However, I can’t connect to GoogleDrive. In the Authorize dialog box, I see a message:

Just installed this version, I am using DisplayFusion with a DF Taskbar at the top on my second monitor, PA opened full screen underneath the toolbar. When I moved the window to monitor one, with the Windows 10 Taskbar at the top of the screen, PA was still taking over the whole screen and under the Taskbar.
Maximizing PA caused it to properly not take the whole screen but rather fit under the Taskbar in the client area.
Also, there is no standard Windows System Menu (Alt-Space) to make Maximize/Restore/etc. possible when the window is misdrawn.
Opening Configuration takes a very long time, and the main window appears to be responsive but isn’t really available while waiting for Configuration to show up.
Also, picking SmartAI | Configure SmartAI brought up the Configuration dialog behind the main window which makes the main window stop responding, and Alt-Tabbing away and back just causes the Options window to show up behind again. Always on Top may be enabled, I can’t tell because clicking it turned it bright blue, then it went dark blue, and clicking it won’t cause it to go back to dark gray.
Pressing ESC closed the Configuration dialog and then clicking Always on Top turned it back to dark gray.
When the Main window is fullscreen (but not maximized), the lower right corner double arrow (is it really necessary to avoid all Windows standards and make up your own controls?) does nothing - dragging it or any window sides will not resize the window even though it is not maximized.
Clicking the Applications button at the upper left opens the vertical icons bar to show the application names associated with each icon (like Windows Start Menu). Clicking the button again causes the expanded names area to close, open again and then close again (!).
This is way less tested than I expected.

@Brian-Gregory Because additional taskbars on screens are a fully supported Windows feature (since at least Windows 7) and there is a standard Windows API for creating them and having them managed. All other programs have no trouble understanding that there is a taskbar at the top of the second monitor.
Also, I disabled the DF secondary Taskbar and enabled the stock Windows 10 second Taskbar. When I opened PA it came up (with the nag screen behind the main screen!) it was maximized from when I closed it. When I clicked the max button to restore, it took over the whole screen over top of the Windows 10 standard Taskbar on the top of the screen.
Once PA is sized to the client size it no longer displays this behavior - it appears to have just happened on install.

Having one issue with the RC1 - when extracting a zip file using drag and drop to a network share, it prompts for UAC - which I allow - and prompts again, and then keeps on flashing up but not extracting anything - and there is now way to close it down other than logging off/shutting down. Seems like the UAC handling is broken at present. This is not an issue with the current production version, where I use this a lot of the time.

Another issue found: I have compress to ZIP and compress to ZIPX setup on the context menu. If I do a compress to ZIP it is actually compressing to ZIPX :-(
