I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
Unsolved Virtual Drive - Long running problem
-
You may recall that I have had a long running problem of being unable to get the virtual drive system to work properly in my Win 7 x64 main OS on my main PC. I have had NO problems at all in other widows partitions that I have installed. This lack of success has been accompanied by finding, downloading and installing the latest drivers used.
So, I backed up and installed the virtual drive software. I attempted to create a virtual drive and was apparently successful according to the message that appeared on screen. However, no additional drive letters were used and no drives (without letters) were found in the disk management section of the computer management applet. I created two such drives this way.
Realising that there was not much more I could do, I rebooted and was accompanied by a never-ending rebooting screen so had to use the reset button to reboot. I do have some virtual drive software that works and does the job, but I just do not like computers to win! We have tried everything possible in the past, and IIRC, the people who write the software you use were less than lelpful, understandardly so to be fair, as this was the only case of this issue that they had come across.
I have no doubt that we would have the problem licked if it was written in house.
One matter that I had not come across before is that on uninstalling the software, one gets a (windows generated) message that it is installed in the same place as PA 2017 and all files may not be able to be removed. I was actually using Revo Uninstaller to remove the virtual drivers software and much of what was said to be left over from the uninstall was most of PA itself. I have never seen this before and would suggest that these two programs are separated as in the past to avoid a possible Tsunami of error requests when less knowledgable users find out that their PA install no longer works.
With kindest regards as always

@drteeth seems like a good summary to me. Not sure if it would help revo if it is installed in separate folder, people hated Patchbeam being installed that way because they thought it was some kind of monitoring software or something crazy like that.

This issue has nothing to do with Revo Uninstaller and it is not the situation that I am reporting, especially as PA 2016 does not produce the same error messages. PLUS, the situation does not worry me at all. The issue that I was reporting wasd the continual issue of the Virtual Drive system not working at all on this PC*.
*It does work on every other windows installation on this PC, recently dropped from four to two, and every other windows partition that has been used for testing. I do have other FreeWare that provides a virtual drive for ISO. The reason for the software drop is that I am upgrading my CPU/motherboard very soon and just need to see how the priaces settle down in a few weeks.
Best regards

yes, i am quite aware of what you meant, thats why I said good summary. As you mentioned above, VD is not our code, we cant really fix it for (usually very rare) instances that it does not work well.
Thanks!
