On installing the program I am getting the error message:
"Unable to execute file c:\Program Files\PowerArchiver\pashutil.exe
CreateProcess failed: code 2
The system cannot find the file specified"
This can’t be right!
I am using the latest official build of Windows 11

Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi everyone, some good news about PowerArchiver… I’ve managed to get in touch with the original developer of PowerArchiver, Ivan Petrovic, and he has confirmed that the product is not dead or abandoned, in fact it is still very much alive! There has been a hiatus over the past months for various reasons, but that we should expect to see stuff coming through in the coming months (hopefully the next 2 months).
I had a large .tar file (a backed up WSL) and I want to delete a few directories and their contents from it using PA2023.
PA just destroys the whole archive as soon as I try to delete a directory, leaving it in a state where PA2023 won’t even open it any more.
I tried several times and also tried compressing it to .tar.xz instead - same result.
This should either actually work, or it should say operation not supported and do nothing.
Hello!
The regular version of PA 2023 is out for over 6 months now, but there is still no sign of the portable release.
(When) will there be one?
Thanks!
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
Win 11 64 bit
I have some archives which have been encrypted, using the encrypt option either in pbs or when interactively creating a zip. When I open these, and look at files, I am asked for passwords, which I know, and then can view items or decrypt the files in the archive (tools>decrypt files).
However, when I use the Actions>Remove Archive Encryption (whether using the same zip or asking to write another), the routine shows progress bar to the end, but then just hangs i.e. “OK” never activates. All process information shows this stalled/hanging.
What can I do to sort this out?
For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

Options saving, encryption and other issues
-
I have been using Powerarchiver for a couple of months now and there are a few issues with the way it functions that bugs me a bit.
I am using version 16.02.04
Saving Options
There needs to be an options auto save off/on flag and a Manual save of options - separate from the import/export options. It’s annoying if I create an encrypted archive by changing the option in the create dialogue, but the next time I don’t want to create an encrypted archive, it asks me for a password because “encrypt” is now the default. Similarly with changing column widths or sort order temporarily, these changes are saved. I’d prefer to save standard layout and options and be able to change these for a particular need without it becoming the new default.
Encryption
Adding a new file to a password encrypted zip file - should encrypt new file with archive password if already entered. PA updates an edited encrypted file without asking for the password again (as its already been entered when opening the file) but adding a new file to the archive when the password has been entered does not automatically use the password for the archive.
Files can be deleted from an encrypted archive without entering the password. Minor bug.
Minor Bugs and Presentation Issues
- When deleting files from an archive the deleted files are still shown until the display is updated with F5. After delete, menu keys are greyed and can’t be clicked.
- File list needs vertical space padding between lines (it looks cramped with the font I use).
- Archive comment box at bottom needs a settable font. The Comment edit box has one, not the display of it.
- The update function needs to preserve settings. The update does a full reinstallation rather than copying changed components into the install directory.
- Mouse scroll wheel does not scroll the file list until a file in the file list window is selected first.
- The Help>About info dialogue has text that is truncated vertically. My text size settings are normal under windows 10

Thank you for your comments.
Few questions:
- You are using ZIP archives, encryption?
- Update saves all the settings, this is how Windows Installer works. It always uninstalls everything but keeps the settings. Check with next update and if not, let us know.
- Take a screenshot for About window please.
We will try to reproduce and talk about other things when team is back in the office on Monday.
Thanks again for your comments!!!

Yes, I had the encryption issue with zip archived. Haven’t tried it with other formats.

Thanks for the screenshot.
I’ve looked at the about screen in 125 and 150 DPI display settings and it looked proper, no text was cut off. What are the resosultion/display settings on your machine? We’ll take a look at the exact same scenario and try to reproduce.
Checking out the other mentioned issues as well
Thank you

Thanks for looking into this. My display settings are 96 dpi (scaled 100%).
I think that the issue might be that I have changed some of the text sizes of components in Windows 10 control panel.
Under Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Display and “Change only Text Size” I have the following settings (not sure what the defaults were):
Title Bars - 13 Bold; Menus 12; Message Boxes 12; Palette Titles 9; Icons 11; Tooltips 9. -
thanks!
will take a detailed look with those settings, thank you -

With larger font option (left from Windows 98 Microsoft?) we cant do the same so window does not change, just the font.

Hello, tried this issue using the latest 16.03.01. I opened a couple or archives, one of subfolders inside and one without, deleted a file in both of them and the deleted file was immediately removed from the archive without a manual refresh.
Does this occur for you on all archives or a specific one?
If you can reproduce on a specific archive that you can send us, please do send it to support at conexware dot com and we will take a look at it immediately. Thanks!

Thanks! It occurs on all archives that I have tried: .zip, .rar and .gz. Just tried it on some I have downloaded and archives I have created myself; problem still there. So it is not related to a particular archive.
I wonder whether there is a setting I have set to do this.

maybe location of the archive, are they on C: or some other drive? Thanks!

They are all over the place, not in a system directory. D: drive, E: drive, a ram drive. That’s not the issue.
I was just now experimenting with settings that make a difference. I had the “Viewing Style” (under Configuration View) set to “Classic style” and this is where the display does not update. Changing the style to “Explorer style (with folders)” causes deleted files to be removed from the list immediately; switching the option back to Classic style and deleting files now updates the display immediately and the menus are not greyed out . But, closing PA and reopening the archive and deleting files causes the problem again (Classic style).

nice one!!
Seems like I reproduced it, thanks for the details! -

can you send us what font/size you are using so we can see what works with it. Thanks!
