Encrypted zipfiles
-
I’ve noticed a few times that PowerArchiver zipfiles, encrypted with a password, sometimes (even often) won’t extract in another archiver.
I’ve just had this problem today – a file I zipped and encrypted with (the current) PA couldn’t be decrypted by the person I sent it to, but I checked the file myself and it seemed fine – and he and I had definitely used the agreed password.
I routinely use two zip programs – the other being the zip support built into Directory Opus – and I’ve never been sure where the problem was. But this latest experience suggests that it’s PA that’s doing things differently.
Have I missed something in the settings somewhere, relating to compatibility?

Hello,
How did you zip the file? Did you use Deflate or Optimized compression?

Try some other archiver with the same file and see how it works… PA shouldnt be doing anything differently, it supports standard ZIP specifications.

Weird. Now I can’t replicate the problem.
Well, that probably explains why the problem’s not seen all the time. Now all I have to do is work out when it occurs and why. In the meantime (of course, this may take some time!) thanks for your advice and sorry to have worried you. :)

ok… let us know if anything changes, maybe it is due to some compression or method not support in client they use… but PA itself, should be very good when it comes to that.
