Shell extension for extraction only appears with all files
-
I’ve no shell extensions selected for compression purposes, only for extraction. But I’m still getting a context menu “Open with PowerArchiver” for all files (text, image, does not matter).
This is occurring with version 14.00.18 under Windows 7 x64
Please check attached screenshots.

did you try disabling it in Extract menu> Open with PowerArchiver?
This extension was put there 1-2-3 years ago to assist with less known extensions that use existing formats.

Disabling it in the extract menu, disables it indeed, but I don’t think this should be the real fix.

What is the purpose of having an open with powerarchiver menu for every file? Why would someone want to open a text file with PowerArchiver?

I see your point, but when you select “open with powerarchiver” on any file, it by default brings up the Drag and Drop Dialog so you can instantly compress that particular file.
So, there is logic behind it as after all Power Archiver is a compression utility and you can to most part compress anything including a Text file.

its there in case there are extensions that are not recognized by PA but are still compressed file - for instance there is at least a hundred extensions that use ZIP format but are named differently… this is why we included this option.
