For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
Moving file from one encrypted archive to another
-
Questions.
- Sometimes I want to move a single file from one archive to another.
This seems to work just fine with D&D.
But the problem arises if both files are encrypted AND the passwords are different . . .
When I try to do this a dialogue box opens wanting to know the password.
I ASSUMED it first wanted the password from the archive FROM WHICH I was dragging the file. But I have had a mess working on that assumption.
Am I mistaken?
I am having, too, what I take to be a related problem.
Suppose I want to update a file (call it file ‘A’) in an encrypted archive by ADDING a single file (call it ‘B’) from another archive.
PA doesn’t seem to know what to do.
Among other things, I do NOT get the dialogue box wanting to know if I want to update file A (even though I have that box checked in the configuration settings).
Am I trying to do just what cannot be done? Or I am botching my execution?
-
This is how I tested
Archive A and Archive B, both encrypted with different passwords.
1.Move file from Archive A into Archive B
2. PA asks for password from Archive A, enter correct password
3. D&D dialog comes up as it should, selected my desired settings, click OK and file was added properly. -
Sorry I was unclear. There is a second element of my problem.
First, you didn’t mention when I get the request for a PW for B archive (the 2nd archive).
There is a second element of my problem.
I am not JUST adding the file. I am opening a file in B – which opens after I enter the relevant pw. Then I am adding a file from A to that open file (the 2nd file is a portfolio.
I should then get a dialogue asking me if I want to update the resultant file in B. I do not get said dialogue, and it doesn’t add the file.
I am not sure this explanation is much clearer. If so, not to worry.
I have a more lengthy workaround.
-
I would recommend that we name things correctly so we don’t confuse them.
Let’s refer to an Archive as Archive and a file that’s inside an archive, File.Given that, I would need some clarification as to what this part means and how it is related to the report in the first post;
“I am not JUST adding the file. I am opening a file in B – which opens after I enter the relevant pw. Then I am adding a file from A to that open file (the 2nd file is a portfolio.”
Thanks!

Moreover, how do you update a file inside an archive by adding a file to that file?

Moreover, how do you update a file inside an archive by adding a file to that file?
You could do that with almost any file, but I mainly do it with a PDF portfolio. With a PDF portfolio, you can just drag a file into it. If I am NOT dragging it from another encrypted archive PA correctly asks if I want the FILE within the 2nd Archive updated.
Seems as if (a) I cannot explain this clearly enough, and (b) it probably cannot do what I want done, so I will stick with the workaround. Sorry for the bother.
