PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
    Brian GregoryB

PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
    Discovered:
    a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
    b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

Convert archive is incorrect for some WinRAR 5 archives
    W

WinRAR 5 has a rather useful option in some cases, which is to be able to create an archive by replacing identical files with a reference to the first occurrence (hardlink) within the archive.
In case you choose to convert the file with PowerArchiver to another format, however, the resulting archive does not have all the files. It does not consider those that were present as hardlinks.
If you do a normal extraction of the RAR archive instead, even with PowerArchivier, all the files are extracted correctly.

I downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers which are in a self extracting executable. Right clicking on the file and going to “Extract To…” context menu brings up the “Extract” dialog box as usual.
In here I click the “Extract to filename\ subfolder” check box then pick my directory to install to and click “Extract”.
The folder is never created with the name of the file, instead all the files are directly extracted to the selected directory.

      Example:

I told PA to extract to “C:\Nvidia Drivers” which should have created a sub folder called “285.62-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe” and extracted the files\folders there, but it just extracted them to “C:\Nvidia Drivers”.

you told it to extract to that directory if you wanted it to extract the files into its subdirectories you should of selected that.

Powerarchiver only extracts where you tell it.

          AluminumHaste,
If you do the same thing but from Main PA, open archive in main PA>click extract Button>Check same option, does it work then?
Seems to work fine in main PA for me, but not through shell.

Okay opening the exe with PA then telling it to extract works correctly.
It only fails to extract to sub directories when you use the right click context menu to select “Extract To…”

If you want to try this your self I’ve used 2 different exe’s on two different computers. The last one I just tried was this one:

                  http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/285.62/285.62-desktop-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql.exe

Okay this forum is completely broken, I’m subscribed to this thread with instant mail notification and I hardly ever get notifications. Using my Gmail account and I’ve created a filter for notifications from this site so it will never get SPAM flagged.
Anyways trying to new version now.
