I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
PA 12.01.03 failing to open 7z archive.

I just installed Powerarchiver 2011 Pro last night and it cannot open 7z archives that I’ve downloaded in the past few days.
When I try to open one of them PA throws an error:“PowerArchiver cannot open this file. It does not appear to be a valid archive”
So I downloaded the 7z file manager and it has no problems opening the same files.
Strangely enough however, I used PA to create a 7z archive and PA has no problems opening that file.
Here is the link to one of the files that is failing:http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3099.0;attach=4476

Hello!
The attached link links to a forum where I do see some 7z files attached, I’m assuming some of those files are what you are referring to?
I’ve downloaded and tested
Vurt’s SS2 Flora Overhaul v01.7zI’ve tried to open/extract them with PA 2011 and it worked fine. Can you point me to a specific 7z file that doesn’t work for you?
I’ll give it a try with that one. Thanks!
-
Vurt’s SS2 Flora Overhaul v02 fails to open for me, try that one. I’ll try the v01 file.
EDIT: The file Vurt’s SS2 Flora Overhaul v01.7z does open just fine with PowerArchiver. Perhaps his 7z files are corrupted somehow.

Yep, same here.
I’ll log this one in and see what the dev team has to say. Looks like its something specific.
Thanks for reporting it!
-
Not a problem, thank you for looking into it, as I said the 7z File manager has no problems opening these files.

what version of 7z are you using? Our dll is latest official one, there “shouldnt” be any issues.
-
According to 7zip I’m using 7z 9.20 which I see is the same version of the DLL in my PowerArchiver directory
-
I just tried the beta 9.22 DLL 7z file but PA has the same problem with some of those files.
-
it is something weird, we will figure it out
-
No problem, take your time
-
it is rar archive, not 7z… rename extension to rar and it will work fine :-)
-
Ah that explains it. That is a little strange as PA is usually pretty damn good at figuring out the actual format of the file regardless of it’s extension.

we will see what we can do about detection in this case…
